  1. It is disturbing how some of the fanbase openly roots against Dayne. Crepeau got chipped from a mile out at Copa, but you never see that held against him.

  2. Sorry but St Clair has been very poor for the national team. If you want the team to improve then they have to be able to take criticism. St clair has been very bad and I’ll go one step further in saying we lost the gold cup because of him. He hasn’t one a single penalty shootout for the national team yet. His keeping strategy is all wrong we are better of giving a younger gk a chance instead of him that way we are actually building for the future

  3. The us against to world stuff is getting old. People disagree with his stance on DSC because everyone witnessed Crépeau earning the spot ON THE PITCH, then being made backup just because. Now the salesman talks about wanting leadership when the main leader defensively has been Crépeau all along. Our WC26 will be defined by that decision, the easiest decision to make.

  4. Some players team forms just don't translate on the big stage for some national team players. Unfortunately, at this point Dayne hasn't performed well in the National Team jersey. Hopefully that changes with experience 🤞

  5. People having a preference for Crepeau is not the same as hating on St. Clair. I get that St. Clair has put up great MLS numbers while Crepeau has struggled, but they are playing with two different teams in front of them. With the same team, Canada, Crepeau has been the better of the two.

  6. I like Dayne and I don't understand the hate (except for that kind of hilarious clip of him saying "you know I'll save one or two") but Max just has another gear when he plays for Canada. Can't really explain it. It's like he's a different player.

  7. I love how Jesse goes to bat for his guys like a proper leader should. But lets be real, Larin hasn't been near good enough for a lenghthy period to justify getting starts moving forward and Crepeau frankly has been better for country than DSC has. Facts. We fans just want to see the best guys start to give us the best chance to win matches

  8. If it was Crepeau in nets vs Uruguay I’m certain we would’ve finished third. Max is a proven champion- if it wasn’t for his bravery and commitment in the MLS final, which resulted in him getting injured and missing the World Cup, LAFC wouldn’t have won that championship.

  9. We've never really won as a result of Dayne and I think that's why most Canadians prefer Max. France, Peru, Chile, Venezuela immediately come to mind as games Max has either kept us in or won. Also believe a lot of casual watchers of the sport in this Country underestimate how tough penalties are, and Dayne's performances during PK's "justify" their dislike of him.

Reality is, neither is a bad option. I do think the team plays differently and looks a bit more confident with Max in net.

  10. I think Dayne St. Clair has been a good keeper for the National team. However whenever Maxime Crépeau is in net, the defence seems to gel better and concede fewer goals probably due to his communication and his aggressiveness with the high line. With Dayne, he makes all the right saves, but the eye test says the national team concedes more which probably points to communication, assertiveness and a spatial sense of the pitch that would put Max over Dayne in my books.

  11. I imagine that each upcoming window of 2 matches will see GK duty split between the two keepers, as long as they’re healthy.
2026 friendlies will reveal the WC Starter

  12. End of the day it's Jesse fault because he took the net away from Max when he has never had a bad game for Canada. Dayne isn't terrible but it's clearly Max's net. Marsh is just butt hurt everyone sees what he doesn't

  13. Please don’t put st Claire and Larin in the same category. Many Canadians like st Claire but prefer max. But we are very happy to have two great goalies.

Larin on the other hand has been predictably awful and we don’t need him any more given we have 4 great forwards

  14. I have literally never seen Dayne St Clair play well for Canada. I couldn't give less of a fuck how good he is for his club because Dayne St Clair is a liability every time he plays for Canada.

  15. Fans can have opinions but what's clear is these guys are as serious and passionate and together as our hockey team is for the country. It would be good if fans laid off the more incisive comments.

  16. This is wonderful. Given the decades I’ve rooted for our team, I’m so happy to see dissent and complaining about player selections. A sign we’re becoming a football nation.

  17. The fan base is clear about the goal keeper’s performance especially in dealing with penalty kicks or free kicks. Apparently DSC has shown his weaknesses in those regards. Canmnt advanced to semis of Copa America last year was because of Crépeau’s excellence in saving penalties while the next game, partly because of poor performance of DSC, Canmnt lost to Uruguay at last minute in the match for Bronze medal. Why Jesse could not see such a difference?

  18. I strongly believe that regardless of which goalkeeper starts a game, the goalkeeper that has proven himself better at penalties is the one that should take the penalty shots. Australia did that in a World Cup qualifying fixture against Peru in 2022 with great results.

We lose too many games on penalties and we must have our best penalties goalkeeper on the field at that time. It is one of our weaker areas. We need to acknowledge that and innovate since the status quo is not good enough.

Secondly, every player should go into a game knowing that he may be part of a penalty shootout. Every player must practise for this and not be surprised when called upon to shoot.

Chances are that at least one Canada game at the World Cup will end in a draw. Let's prepare for that and be ready to excel during the shootout. If there isn't already one, there should be a penalty shootout coach. We also need to have a scouting report for every goalkeeper we expect to face.

There is a science to penalty shootouts. It is not something to be left to the whim and fancy of individual players under pressure at the end of the game. Instead there should be a plan agreed on beforehand. If we fail to plan, we are planning to fail.

  19. If Jesse can consider two recent bad results at Nations League against Mexico and at Gold Cup against Guatemala: both games with DSC whose performance was really questionable. Also the 3rd place game against Uruguay at 2024 Copa America, DSC conceded at the stoppage time and then lost penalty shootout. How many more do you want to see further before you are fully convinced that Crépeau is the right keeper for canmnt?

  20. Isn't St. Clair like 0-11 PK? Brutal. Crepeau is the better shot stopper anyway, just more proven in national team games.

  21. So players are great at practice and okay during the game. But then there players who are average at practice but know how to win a game. I rather the man that know how to win a game. MAX is the guy.
