  1. For Josh to do this 5 months before the World Cup is dumb. He may end up not playing with a club at all and that keeping him of the US Squad, especially when you look at past failures with the USMNT. He could have and should have told Norwich he wants to leave in the summer back to MLS.

  2. Josh Sargent is not a world class player or a national team player now. Selección! Means the best to represent the nation. His game play with the US national team has been nonexistent in and out of the pitch. There are players that have made a greater impact and deserve to be in the team, than Sargent. As for his career, all I can say is good luck and hope he finds the right club. He has the privilege to play the sport we love and is still very young. He can close his tail end of his career strong. He just needs to focus on playing and surround himself with the people that want that for him.

  3. Nobody really looks good in this scenario but I feel like a lot is being missed here. Tom reported that TFC and NCFC have been in negotiations since early December. This would mean the notorious text from Sarg didn't fall out of the sky, it wouldn't have been a surprise. It was likely tied to a lack of movement in completing this deal with a worry TFC might move on. Refusing to play is wrong. Clement then took it public in a very explosive way. This is also wrong. This creates a nearly impossible pathway back for the player because not only will the supports know he tried to force his way out at a bad time, but also makes Sarg look weak for bending the knee to such an aggressive hit out at him. Then this meeting happens which who knows what is said but clearly it's not good. Looks like TFC will get their guy because since then we've already heard of two strikers NCFC are going after in the transfer market. Very clearly replacements for Sarg. If you don't move him, and he continues to hold out, or downs tools when he does play, his transfer value plummets anyways. As contracts go on, the value of that asset diminishes. So $18 million now, won't be there in the summer after whatever the rest of this season looks like, with 6 months less on his contract. Everyone has played this poorly and TFC will benefit from that.
