Credit for getting rid of defenders like Cahill and smalling who aren’t comfortable on the ball at all and get pressed far too easily. Now at least england can build out from the back a lot easier also with pace and quality of the wingbacks and the inside forwards what we need to try to get creative midfielders in the team like Wilshere, Loftus-Cheek, Lallana etc into the team. Add that to with a genuine world class striker in Kane the team is a lot better than people think it’s just donkeys like Smalling, Cahill, Henderson, welbeck, young, livermore who kill the balance of the team.
And then England finish bottom of the group

I think he's done a pretty good job thus far. I've seen more creativity in general from the english national team in general, but their finishing is still not there and they're not winning by scorelines that they should be sometimes. In addition, because they're finishing is poor, you can let in one goal and have a draw or a loss, similar to Chelsea sometimes this season, and just not get positive results. 5-4 score line is way more positive of a win than 1-0 but you missed about 10 chances and they had none. It's a mental block they have. But Southgate's real test, no matter what you say, is the World Cup. Must perform.
