I've sat and watched 3 consecutive seasons of Sporting as I live in Lisbon…. Gelson Martins is lightning quick, can beat a man with ease and is a great dribbler…..then……. he wastes just about everything he creates….can't cross, woeful composure, wild finishing with 90% going wide or over the bar and 10% "wonder" finishes… and he has the deadly combination of not having a clue where to be and not having a clue what to do. To put it another way, when Liverpool were rumoured to be in for him last summer, I was praying with everything crossed that they'd spuff 20-30mill on this guy. Praying for it. Sporting has some players worth looking at….and potentially on frees….Gelson isn't one of them. When Silva was here, he generally preferred Andre Carrillo, although accept Gelson was very young still then…. The one we should be looking at is Bruno Fernandes, still not widely known in England….although after the season he just had (and what he's about to do in Russia!) there might be too stiff competition for him.
With you and Ped on this one. Make Coleman captain. Can't see Jags playing a lot of the season at his age and if we invest in the defence.
As for the wage bill, if we can't get rid of players like Martina, then take the knock and end contracts early. Just because he's got Premier league experience doesn't mean they're good enough to play in it. Get them out, reduce the squad and build with quality only

Really worried about this back up left back talk. We need a youg dynamic left back that was like Baines 10 years ago. Baines can't get up and down like he used to and should be cover to a new pacey full back. I love Baines but we need to move forward.
