A new team against a really great team, Nashville wasn’t so bad. Who knows how they’ll be like at the end of the season
I was at the game as well and it was embarrassing to see the amount of diving from the visitors. One of our friends we went with was a huge ATL fan and they said that they are known for doing that, like Neymar used to be. Really takes away from how fast and amazingly skilled the ATL attackers were. They were on a different speed than NSC, we fought valiantly, picked up our game in the second half. Very unfortunate that the ref called off sides when it wasn't and that caused our defenders to stop. That was the difference in the game. Incredibly horrible ref'ing throughout the whole game. At one point an ATL defender kicked one of our players in the stomach, no contact on the ball. Straight foot to the gut. No Yellow card, no red card, no VAR. WTF??????? I thought the VAR in EPL was bad but it was needed on two or three dif plays on Saturday. I was sitting in the supporters section and the sideline ref down there was horrible both for and against us. Soccer is by far the best sport in the world and the MLS has grown, it makes me proud to be an American soccer fan. But what takes way from the joy of watching an MLS match is – they need to penalize players for diving and being over dramatic, they get better ref's, and they utilize VAR. I know these issues have been around a long time, but gawd dang it was frustrating watching it live. Anyway, impressed with NSC in the second half. Against some amazing ATL talent. Shows promise.
