      I feel that mendy did the right thing because the epl defenders are used to keepers comming out but he was in the wrong place to start of with.
      Me in switzerland have to stand very high from the line like a sweeperkeeper i dont really like it .
      Every country is different on that .

      Great video, and a very open debate. One thing I have found interesting is a video that the bundesliga released about Burki from Dortmund on a very similar topic.

      I have noticed it too! The problem with this technique is that it needs loads of experience and good decision making. The only keeper who I think masters it is Neuer and maybe Ter Stegen and Alisson other than those a lot of keepers that are following this technique are getting caught off guard a lot

      I would love to have some feedback from such a world class keeper like you my man. You give me a Buffon type of vibe like you just seem so experienced at such a young age but if you ever have some down time (which I know you probably won't) Id love some feedback from a couple of training/game vids that I have posted on my channel. Keep up with the vids, they're amazing!

      In my opinion you had a bit of a easier situation you were closer to the goal and striker was further away mendy had to try to go for the ball because if he didn't he was getting chipped

      In your clips the composure was such that I would use it in coaching….Doing the right thing at the right time. The examples I gave were horrible recently in EPL. Leno shocked me the most. Just my first take…..I believe, German, Dutch, Belgian, Danish (might be a regional thing) goalies tend to make better decisions that are not very flashy. Pfaff and Schumacher made me want to play goal, watching them in the 86 World Cup. Great decision makers who were typically conservative in those situations. Kahn as well….Neuer being a German kind of breaks the mold a bit IMO. German goalies weren’t usually good with their feet, till he came along and changed the game, almost literally.

      I feel like Spanish and South/Latin American goalies are flashier, (thinking Allison and Rene Higuita, Jorge Campos).

      I view Italian in the middle…..and English goalies as laughable 😜

      Why choose the goalkeeper who hasn't even played a full season in the Premier league yet. I think this guy has only three professional seasons to his name in general.

      Dude i’m sorry but mendy went up against the best striker in Leeds who by the way plays in the best top league in the world and you came up against the a quite poor striker who totally fluffed his shot and tried to chip you instead of putting it in the open net on you’re right where you left it open. Don’t get me wrong I like ur style and videos and there is no doubt you are a very good gk but you still can’t compare those two situations

      I guess the EPL goalkeepers have the fear of relegation that messes up with their minds and they end up being much more active than actually needed. but without the pressure of relegation MLS goalkeepers keep their cool and end up only doing necessary things needed to do. but also it may be the other way round since EPL is more competitive and there are much stronger teams they may have to not rely on their teammates but in MLS there are not many of MLS team that is at the level of EPL teams (sorry for bad grammar)

      I don't think it is an EPL trend. I guess Manuel Neuers "Sweeper Keeper" style influence many other goalies in Europe.
