I'm not saying its epilepsy, because I don't know his medical history. But it could be absence epilepsy. When you get a seizure like that you lose awareness of your surroundings for 5-15 sec. You stare blankly into space and it looks like you are daydreaming. You won't respond if someone calls your name. After a seizure like that you continue like nothing happened. I used to have seizures like that but I'm on medication now.
