  1. Slow that buzz bait down! Get the thing going just enough to have the blades throw the water and keep it steady. Those were my favorite type of baits when I was a youngn, use to slay N. Pike on the lakes around me in Wis. on those things. They are fun! Always look forward to watchin your stuff bud, Thank you!

  2. Great vid! For your next 5 bait challenge, can you please do:

    1. Lunkerhunt Phantom Spider
    2. River2Sea Double Plopper
    3. Strike King Swim Jig
    4. Mann's 12" Jelly Worm
    5. Any soft plastic with an Underspin

I only ask because I never really caught bass with those lures lol. Keep up the great work Greg 😀

  3. I've caught lots of bigs on a buzzbait man. Anytime between march and december I have a white skirted buzzbait with a white fat albert grub ready to go. Check out Daves Tournament Tackle for some awesome buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs. He been making them since the early 80's and I know for a fact that pros use his stuff and try to keep it on the hush.

  4. When fishing a buzzbait on braid, don’t be so aggressive with the hookset. Just keep reeling and lean into it like a spinnerbait. The braid will bury the hook.

  5. Quick tip on top water fishing(My Dad and Grandfather both taught me this and it works): Right after that bass smashes your top water bait, no matter what kind of bait you are throwing, you HAVE TO WAIT before setting the hook. That fish needs time to re position that bait in its mouth before you set the hook. Reel down to it and feel the fish, just like you would when fishing a jig after that first bite. Then set the hook.

Tight lines brother. Always a pleasure watching your vids!

  6. I crush bass on that ned rig crawZ here in virginia love that bait! and can't believe you have never caught a bass on a ned rig! I keep a ned rig tied on one of my spinning rods all year around and catch tons of bass on then orginal TRD as well as lots of other Zman finess baits like the slim swim paddleZ creat bait as well you should give that a try sometime as well!

  7. Great video man. I’ll be seeing you @ Clear Lake in about a month! I’ll most likely be donating, since I have only fished CL once and have zero confidence as of yet, but it’s kinda like the Delta and Berry in that… your always just one bite away from a giant! Should be an interesting tourney! Be well man. Maybe I’ll see you out and about leading up to it. Will be @ Kelsey Campground as base camp on Aug 3/4th if you want to pre-fish. Anyways. Be well brotha!

  8. If I heard it correctly your drag slipped and was slipping when you hooked your buzz fish. Gotta lock that drag down and crank them in fast

  9. I’ve loved throwing a buzzbait a lot this year. One thing I always do is throw it with a stinger/trailer hook. It’ll even work if you rig it up after you thread on your frog trailer. Good stuff buddy, keep the bait challenges coming.

  10. Let the rod load up when you get a Buzzbait bite, if the rod loads up you usually already have the fish hooked. If you try to hammer them on the hookset the wire will flex and in most cases tear out of the fish’s mouth.

  11. How do you not sweat to death. I mean long pants, longs sleeve shirt. What is the material of those clothes? I hate spraying sunscreen all over.

  12. Not a pro but, I was told you are not supposed to hook and reel at the same time. That could lead to just reeling the hook out of their mouths. Maybe this is why you lost some.?

  13. The thing you did wrong first fish hooked on buzz bait was have your rod up and supported the fish jumping and spitting the hood

  14. Good stuff Greg. We throw buzzbaits a lot here on the Potomac River due to the Hydrilla and eel grass it's best to have a trailer hook on it. More than half of your hookups will be on the trailer. Use a button stopper to hold in place. Hope to see you at Guntersville for KBF Nationals.

  15. Wow! That was quick!
When you changed to a small hook you said there is a lot of 4” fish here… lol! Challenge complete!👍🏼🎣

  16. Greg, the bite has been very slow in the Delta this year, and seems a lot of anglers are coming in with small limits even in club tournaments, however, there are those that still horse in the big ones. With all the pelletizing, doesn't help either. I just keep trying to find good current and good water, and fish the conditions… Good job with catching that many bass in just two hours!

  17. When I use a buzzbait, I use a white/silver paddle tail trailer from Keitech Fat Swing Impact or Strike King Rage Swimmer Swimbait. It's my favorite morning topwater bait, even over the Whopper Plopper. I've caught several 5# bass in the same morning casting parallel to the bank on my kayak. Give it a try!

  18. Big fan of the channel. Try a swim jig in one of your challenge videos, I’ve never seen you throw one. Since you like the chatter bait I think you could have good results out of the swim jig.

  19. Greg I’m going through this whole series and I really hope you try something like this again. It’s a lot of fun watching you push outside of your comfort zone and trying new things! I hope you pick it up again!
