Great fight, but I think BJ should’ve won this one. Maybe the unified rules have changed, but he didn’t really do anything with the takedowns, so they shouldn’t count for much. I also think Hendricks should’ve won against GSP
kinda looked like BJ won, GSP was all beat up bad and BJ didnt have a scratch, pretty much defended everything while not having much answers for his attacks
Look at their faces and you can see who won. GSP's face looked like a punching bag, Penn looked like he just got done playing a scrimmage ball game.
Watched it all without audio and kinda shocked GSP got the title. Penn clearly won.
George looked 2 weight classes bigger than BJ in this fight.

fun fact: after the 1st round the legend john danaher said to George "you know what to do" meaning he had a backup strategy if he lost the 1st round and after that George went into smesh mode

Every single one is the same story line.. Every fighter is levels beyond GSP in grappling and can't be controlled on the ground…
Then one by one GSP dismantles them… Then the next fight and the next and joe continues this narrative.
I don't know when Joe changed his tune but after GSP retired Joe all of a sudden taljs about how good his grappling was..

I believe BJ was robbed of this fight! It was a great fight and GSP was the aggressor but BJ counter everything GSP threw at him while landing a lot of solid strikes GSP was never done anything to really out weigh PENNs damage or defense on the ground

this is around the time I first started watching MMA and did martial arts training myself. THese were classy fighters who weren't all about talking trash they just came out and did their business each and every time
