  1. Form over the next several months is crucial to the USMNT advancing deep in this World Cup. Talent, tactics and intensity has to be at a high level through out every game. Player's from this point have to start elevating their mental and physical..

  2. In 2010, we were smart enough to play underdog football. GGG is going to try to change the way the world sees us by playing as if we are favorites when we aren't. Talk me off the ledge, Jake!

  3. Sorry, but this is not an easy group – no matter how you spin it for the US. And this is coming from someone who bleeds Red, White, and Blue – Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Let me get the most obvious weakness out of the way first.

1- Gregg Berhalter – enough said (done)
2- England – well… it's England and this is not the same team we faced the last time. Last time they were old, and already qualified to the knock-out stage. So they didn't have much to play for (just not lose to us). This time it's different.
3- Iran – on an individual talent basis, they have very good players. Many of which play in the Euro leagues at a consistent level. Plus, they are our political and ideological rivals – who will come out as forcefully as possible (their "dis-like" is real).
4- Either of the Euro-playoff winners will be tough for us as well – because of two main plots, under-currents:

4A- If the winner of Scotland/Wales ends up beating Ukraine (which I find difficult and will explain next) and makes it to the WC – it will become a "UK Derby" scenario (a UK "clasico"). Neither UK team will want to be the one who gets knocked-out, and have to face the humiliation at the expense of the other. The US will be in the middle of that dynamics

4B- I believe the winner will be Ukraine, because they have SO MUCH to play for right now. The geopolitical and global news of the Ukraine war will propel their national team to the highest highs they can achieve. For them it will be all about their Pride, it will be all about their Nation, it will be all about their People, it will be all about their Patriotism. They will come out of the gates screaming "We Are Ukraine." And the US will be in the middle of that dynamics as well

This will not be easy at all. Not for one second. And because we have Gregg Berhalter.

  4. If Robinson and zimmerman start against England, mark my words they will press them in to mistakes over and over again. Concacaf is over, the lack of quality will show if we choose these players who have never seen a full European team

  5. Glad to see you upload again! I'm looking forward to our sides meeting in November. The only thing I said I didn't want when the draw was taking place was one of the play-off sides; I hate not knowing who our fourth team is! So of course we got a play-off team. And not even one of the exotic ones. I could drive from St George's Park to Wales or Scotland's training grounds in a couple of hours.

But of course we're meeting. Difficulty aside I don't think there's a group with more vibes than ours. How will that translate on the pitch? Obviously we don't know yet, and there's seven months to go (touch wood no one gets injured), but it's fun to talk about. I think the US should advance… but I can't say that with confidence. You have plenty of the individual players needed, but will they be played in an effective way? Because Iran is good and Wales is good. Ukraine and Scotland I think are shakier but by no means pushovers. My problem with the US is inconsistency. If they go one or two goals down can they come back from it? I'm not sure.

I do expect England to top their group, I won't lie, but I'm not so obstinate that I say they'll sail through. I do think people who say that Maguire or Pickford playing means their team will have an easier time have only seen them at club level. Maguire was one of the best defenders at the Euros. Pickford, in all his years as England keeper, has never once made a mistake which led to a goal. Good players.

  6. I'm glad you used that word — consistency. That's really what we have lacked, and what I fear can be our undoing in this World Cup. While we can optimistic about our favorable draw, we need to recognize that every team in the group considers this a favorable draw, and it's BECAUSE they see the US as a vulnerable pot 2 team. While it's fun to pick on the English, any novice can recognize that England is clearly the most talented team in the group. They have elite players all over the field. The only real knock on them is Southgate, who may be the only manager at the World Cup that Gregg could outcoach. Talentwise, the US is probably second, but the lack of consistency from our players and coach is why Iran and the playoff competitors all think that they can advance. The question isn't whether or not we have players who are capable of scoring goals, but rather, do we have someone who can consistently create and convert chances? With regard to the coach, there is a difference between being consistent and being dogmatic. The question isn't about Gregg's overall tactical knowledge, but rather, do you trust him to get his tactics right in 3 straight games against 3 very different opponents? I fear these issues could lead us to underachieve against more experienced opposition at this level. With that said, I do see the US as a team who is capable of making a deep run IF we can get out of the group. By that point, no one will be bunkering or playing a conservative game against us. They will expect to win, and will likely try to play on the front foot, causing the game to be wide open, which ultimately better suits the US, in my opinion.

  7. Our team is too young to pose a threat over an attrition tourney format. WC is all about age average being 27 with few deviations and basic tactics. We're still so talented we'll make it past the first knockout stage.

  8. The Netherlands will crush any of those group B teams except England. So whoever takes 2nd spot in Group B after England won't stand a chance against the Dutch in the 2nd round. I think this guy means the Dutch will have an easy path to the qf lol. And as for qatar, the usmnt narrowly beat them in last years gold cup in the Americans own back yard in the last minutes of that game. So yeah that says it all.

  9. Iran will come out strong against US but not because they hate the US, they want to win. Look at WC 98, Iran came out and brought the US team flowers on the pitch before beating them.

Funny thing we think we got a easy group as long as we can keep a draw against England. But like you said it’s exciting and scary at the same time.

  10. Based on the USMNT's up-and-down intensity during Qualifying, I worry they could play brilliantly against England–possibly lose a close one or get another draw – then turn in duds against weaker teams, particularly Wales/Scotland, or (even riskier) Ukraine, sure to be the sentimental favorites if they qualify. As for Iran, America is still the Great Satan, but the revolutionaries are elderly, now, and our team are decades too young to remember the Iranian Hostage Crisis. That one, I think, is the hardest match to predict during the round-robin – and potentially the most dangerous for our team, if they aren't careful.

  11. USA will not advance, in your group stage playing against some of the weakest teams, USA let in ten goals, USA has no structure, I can not see them even in the third place. Sorry it is not looking good for USA.

  12. For the first time I can think of, we aren't in what is the hardest group or second hardest group. I'm very happy with our draw. Every game is one we could potentially take points off. That isn't to say that every game isn't one where we might lose as well, but we're going to be a lot more competitive with the teams in this group than in some of the groups.

  13. Let's just not be surprised if Iran top this group. I say this for a reason because I have watched their team for a very long time developing amazingly. First of all, It's right next door in their neighbourhood Qatar and the Persian Gulf. They have topped their qualification groups for the last 12 years. Barely any team can score on them. Their fans will flock stadiums and won't make it easy for any team which make them dangerous going beyond round of 16. In Qatar the climate is very hot humid uncomfortable at times. This will definitely be unbearable for some European and North American teams. Even in December. The USA and the British team with Harry Kane and Sterling will have a very hard fight against the very well experienced Iranians for top spot in this group.

  14. Hey, Iranian is here. I think the USMNT and Teammelli (Iran) will have big problems if Wales qualifies. Honestly I think like 1998, neither will qualify from group B in the presence of two European teams. But lets hope for USA and Iran that Scotland qualifies, and in that case I believe we have chance.

  15. Im sorry but your predictions and logic are crazy. This is probably the poorest usa team ive seen in decades. The quality players us did have are now too old and the new are totally inexperienced from top to bottom. I really think usa are going to struggle. As for england, again ur comments are way off. Southgate is a great young coach that has took the national team from strength to strength. Two major tournaments, a semi final and final plus breeze through qaulifications. Also our keeper pickford is outstanding for england. Its not his fault everton have had such a bad season. Id love to see the usa do well as my partner is american. But i worry they will struggle to even get out of the group stage. I think wales have a much better chance of joining england going forward, but we'll see. Goodluck to all tho

  16. I don't think USA will get through the group. England should get max points and second place would probably go to the winner of the playoff

  17. last wc iran could beat spain or portegal but those are running odD
s and betting co have the first and last word as a bus. if iran could win over ENGLAND, betting co would and could not make us box and it is chaotic for the investment, like us vs iran, qustion is what is good for betting company and gambellers.does not matter which team is better.if they could make a billions iran beat ENGLAND so consider it DONE DEAL BEFOREHAND GOT IT?

  18. When I watch the US play, I see a team that can't keep the ball. Especially when our backs try to play the ball out of trouble. I love Barcelona too but we DON'T have the players to play that style. We can't give England 5 free chances, and we will. Pulisic is fast, sure. But Englands wingbacks are faster… they'll have the ball 80% of the game so maybe we get lucky on a counter? Do we have a forward that can hold the ball up at that level? Sargeant maybe but he doesn't score goals. Iran will park the buss and we have proven over and over again that we don't have the creativity to unlock a well organized defence. Hopefully we can advance with 4 points.

  19. Don't be surprised if Wales tops this group, they've got some realy good players that play in English and Spanish league, most importantly they always play with lots of passion for their national team!

  20. I rate u.s football team actually high at the moment.
In football you cant predict anything but on the paper its gonna be england and u.s but iran can be very tricky. Cant tell how they will do but they can turn up knowing they really choked spain in last world cup. If ukraine qualifies then ukraine would be pretty challenging.
