Coached him one season Winter indoor when he was 9 at North Mississauga playing a year up. Already good technical skill but the one thing that stood out was the competitiveness. He hated to lose and just was extremely tenacious…never stopped EVER. Everyone is so happy to see him succeed now at this level. Unfortunately Liam is right about how they tend to select players in Canada – They select like they are hockey players. They select for Speed then Size and skill last. Look at the CMNT; almost every player left Canada to better develop their SKILLS. I used to joke that clubs in Canada would never have selected Messi because he was too small no matter his skill set. Liam Good luck in the upcoming Trini game.
I don’t know how I never realized that you don’t call it Timbits in England. I knew Tim Horton was Canadian but I just assumed everyone called grassroots timbits. It’s even an expression for playing poorly, like “we looked like timbits out there” for if people are crowding the ball or just plain playing bad. Cool
