Mind begs the question…If Pep Guardiola wasnt Manager of ManCity but of some other Club,seeing Brilliance of his Recruitment,KDB,Sane,etc,and failure of their own Recruitment,Mangala,Navas,etc,would ManCity have paid double the price for his targets to scoop them ASAP,or dragged the deals forever trying to sign them for half the price?
We really need a defensive midfielder! That is if we really want to compete for all titles next season, and compete to the fullest. We saw where we were lacking in last season's Champions League — in the defensive part of the midfield. As soon as the intensity of the opponent is high, Fernandinho looks likes a ghost of himself. We saw it against Liverpool, in both the CL games and the league game we lost against them. We also saw that high-intensity pressing is his nightmare, and he can't deal with it, during Brazil's loss in the WC. I honestly think that unless we get a proven, solid and capable defensive midfielder, we won't be able to win against teams that press very high, with a lot of intensity — ex: Liverpool, Chelsea (with Sarri), etc. The club has to make a financial sacrifice and sign a decent DM. NZONZI from Sevilla would be a good option for the next two or three years, but not long-term, as he's already aged 29. Maybe get Nzonzi on a three-year contract, and in the meantime loan out Claudio Gomes — letting him develop so that in two, three year's time he fills that role with confidence and some high-level experience.
We need a specialist DM. Number 6 is the toughest position on the pitch for it needs a workaholic like Kante. We definitely need to sign the talented workhorse Tanguy Ndombele (21) for DM to come now and together with Claudio Gomez (18), they both understudy & assist Ferna now before Ferna's contract expires.
