  1. I don’t think Pulisic’s problem was taking on too much. He needs to do that. What went wrong is that he lacked decisive choices. He sat on the ball a split second too long. He needs to think less.

  2. Dest never plays defense. He might survive in his team in Spain, but for the USMNT the defenders have to be able to play defense.

  3. I love the USMNT. However,
The midfield needs a lot of work.
Josh Sargent would be the guy if he would figure out how to finish. He does everything right except the final touch.
Acosta is better than the hate he gets.
I wanna see more of Pefok.
Playing out of the back needs a lot of work.
Possession moving forward needs a lot of work.
I want to see more goals during the run of play against better competitive teams like Mexico.
    Where was Musah?

  4. Blood is thicker than water, and that’s why this win was heavier. The bad blood outweighs all the sweat that went into it. Go America god bless this county

  5. All of you except the guy in the bottom right are terrible at evaluating players.

Just you cause you watch a lot of games and this is your job does it make your opinion worth anything. If anything it looks more pathetic that you guys aren’t better.

  6. Shoulda cap-tied Yunus and I wanna see Dike. Love Yedlin (I'm a Sounders fan) but I dunno if he's got what it takes anymore. Then again… I dunno what's going on in training, though. Also, why sub Lleget for Reyna at that point?

  7. "Kellen Acosta lifetime starter"

You can't be serious? The worst midfielder in the starting 11…cant link up with the forwards and is very suspect in defense. The team changed when a proper midfielder (adams) came on the pitch. We looked much better in defense when adams came on.

Build up patterns? We could barely get it out of the back line! The midfield was nonexistent most of the game. What game are these guys watching? And tim ream got rinsed all night. He should be nowhere near a USMNT starting 11

  8. 'There are a lot of people who have no idea what they are they are seeing…' You just described all of twitter, hell all of the internet. How did you not know this Matt?

  9. Yes. best since '94. we are in dark times, and this team gave more than just heart, they gave hope and unity to us all (especially us old folks). it's what makes soccer The Beautiful Game. USA USA USA!

  10. Mexico really killed beautifully USA defense structure with his game, USA won cuz the referee gave away a penalty to US and Mexico sucks at defending air balls!

  11. Great, massive, historic win on the surface. The mental aspect is just as important. This group builds mental character week in and week out with their clubs. Pressure makes diamonds. From an international standpoint, the only thing that stood in this group's way was getting over the hump of Mexico. Now, every person on this roster knows what it takes to get a gritty, hard-fought dub in CONCACAF. Huge mental victory.

  12. Todo es plata todo es en USA, a falta de recursos todo es ahí , los centroamericanos tienen que jugar todo el tiempo de visita en estos torneos

  13. No sugarcoating: Ream and McKenzie are liabilities. Versus better players, they get toasted, no questions asked. I will say McKenzie is a bit more adept than Ream at advancing play the ball, but his passing deficiencies are —— glaring.

With the physical abilities of everyone in front of them, passing accuracy is super important; a breakout was too often squandered due to McKenzie having to think about where and how he was going pass.

I’m sure, in the end, this will get sorted. But the U.S., player for player, is at a point where expecting near or at highest level play from every position is a good thing.

  14. Yes, … Christian was not at his best, … and, yeah, … he was trying to dribble in situations where there were 3 Mexican players cutting off all the space around him. He needed to be a bit more patient. BUT. In the past two games he was either not getting passes, … or the passes were coming really hot and hard to handle, considering he was almost always marked. Because he really wanted to be marshalling play, … he was getting frustrated with the passing. Go back and review the first half against Mexico and you can see his frustration with the passing. The problem isn't all about Christian – it's about the team play and the coach. I don't like him out on the wings with the US. I prefer that he have more freedom to roam, and that he play more in a false 9, or 10, situation. Frankly, … we have a lot of players with poor ball control and touch on passes, … like McKenzie (really poor), Robinson, Yedlin, etc. Brooks did well to make passes out of the back, but sometimes his passes were like shots, rather than passes – I rate him for his ideas, but not his technique. To play the way the coach wants to play, … the players need to be a lot better with passing and movement. Until we see that technical improvement, I'm hoping that we focus on defending, counter-attacking and direct play.

  15. I agree with Gass, there are a lot of players that are at similar levels so you pair Brooks with with who compliments him best.
Carr has an interesting perspective, if there isn't a high level CB partner for Brooks you don't take put in two decent CB's at the expense of a good midfielder. It does sound logical, especially since there isn't a good left footed CB to slot in. I do think a back 5 works best for Dest though.
I like Cannon a lot but we have given him enough starting reps at RB and he is only been adequate. I am all in on Weah at RWB. I got to give Berhalter his due there. He is a great athlete, values defense and pressing and is smart as hell. He could adapt quick. He is too good not to be starting.

  16. I think this is the best game the USA has ever played….but not by your standard measuring sticks. Just the game itself and what they did and how they did it was the reason I gave them the honor. They looked like young vet European players who never panic and were ANIMALS on set pieces. This group of Americans have a different aura these guys have swagger and a touch of bully in them…I have never ever seen that before in a USA team. This group is going to be a handful for ANY nations best and you couldn't say that before. Their extremely fast and athletic and with a couple more SOLID defenders they will be EXTREMELY hard to beat out right. I am just saying this isn't your daddy's USNMT. They love their coach taboot!

  17. On Cristian Marchena's instagram he actually credited Adrian Macias for the photo. They both work for the same photography agency in Mexico

  18. In some ways, the USNT kind of grew up and matured in front of our eyes on this game against Mexico. They surrendered goals, they fought back. They played brave against Mexico and got a win. Yeah, the defense needs to tighten up, but they pulled together and fought to the end.
