  1. Nope. Shaq was a beast but he was lucky to get Kobe and D Wade, otherwise his weaknesses would have cost him a few chips.

  2. Any list with Shaq outside the top 10 is laughable. Shaq was dominate the moment he was drafted to the Magic. His run with the Lakers is the most dominant thing I have seen in basketball. Tim Duncan and David Robinson would try to double Shaq and he made them look like children. I have never seen one man dominate 2 legit HOF players at the same time besides Shaq. Shaq was the perfect combination of Strength, speed, and quickness for a center.

  3. Kobe was right, Shaq could have won 8 titles if he'd applied himself. In hindsight, it isn't a surprise they couldn't co-exist longer than they did.

  4. Hard to think of anyone with a more devastating prime than Shaq. Imagine how ridiculous Shaq would be and how average Kobe would be if they kept the same bodies and swapped work ethics though.

  5. Man if Shaq would’ve taken the basketball serious damn how many MVP and scoring titles

Also Shaq never led the league in rebounds or blocks or was never defensive player of the year

  6. I think so much of the criticism on Shaq is what he could've been/ what more he could have done and not what he actually accomplished. idc what anyone says, 2000-2002 Shaq in the Finals was comparable to 1991-1993 Jordan imo. LeBron from 2015-2018 was also up there stats-wise but he obviously didn't win as much as Jordan and Shaq did.

  7. I think it's because of our perception to work ethic. Shaq gets passed over because of how gifted he was physically- 7 feet 1 inches and 300+ lbs, strong as an ox, while having the quickness and grace of a deer for his size. He was literally a human cheat code physically. So I think we all take him for granted because he didn't have to work as hard to maximize his effectiveness and most humans admire work ethic.

  8. Shaq came in tha league when PE, Hakeem,DRob & Others was Dominating tha Paint.. Shaq killed all tha Centers from his Era Age wise also Players like Zo Mourning 😎✌

  9. Im a Denver fan,& Jokic used to be the most underrated. Half the nba media didnt even realize hed already made a WCF-unlike Embied. Yet Jokic ridiculously got more heat for the playoffs-despite his 2 best teammates being out last 2 yrs. And Jokics numbers went up in the playoffs-Embieds go down. This is BEFORE THESE PLAYOFFS IM TALKING ABOUT.

But now Jokic is largely getting the respect he deserves. I would say Hakeem is the most underrated superstar Ive ever seen-Shaq doesnt even make the list. Hed be closer to most overrated-as great as he was. He couldnt hit a free throw,& wasnt a great team deffender-though he obviously blocked a lot of shots. His Lakers benefited from some ridiculous officiating in 2002 WCFs being the most egregious example-but not only example. Game 7 of the 2000 WCFs vs Portland-they were down like 16 in the 4th,& bout to blow 3-1 lead. Granted Portland melted down-but favorable Laker officiating also played a big role in that Laker comeback.(just like Sacramento in '02 got the alltime hose job in game 6 where the refs stole the game-but they still had game 7 at home,& choked-which had nothing to do with the refs. Both things are usually true-the refs hosed you-but you still had other chances to overcome it)I always thought Kobe was the best overall player on that team.

Im not saying Shaq wasnt great-of course he was. But he was never as great as Hakeem-but got way more attention for obvious reasons. And wed always hear this narrative how Shaq got fouled so much more than everybody else that werent called. And I actually agree with that. But to show he is overrated-theres a flip side to that coin that never gets mentioned. He did get fouled more than anybody else,& a lot of them didnt get called. But he also got away with a ton of fouls-especially OFFENSIVE FOULS-where hed ltterally throw people out of the way & just dunk.

Point is,if we had computers officiating-he wins 1 or 2 fewer rings to start off-cuz of the calks he,& Kobe got…but also him,& D Wade-who shot more free throws himself-than the entire Dallas team in the Finals. If we had computers officiating,Shaq would probably get 8-10 more free throws per game. But he also probably fouls out in 1st qtr of many games. Both things can be true at same time. And since he was an AWFUL free throw shooter-I could argue that wouldve hampered him more than helped him. Even if he gets 10 more free throws-hes only making 4 or 5. He also got too much credit for the Miami title. He was still a good player-maybe even a fringe All star. But he wasnt close to the same guy-Wade clearly carried that team. His Finals performance vs Dallas was maybe the best Ive ever seen-& totally overlooked today-with some major help from the refs as I already mentioned. Bottom line is both things can be true at same time. Shaq was a clear top 15-20 player ever-but was somewhat overrated,& never in Hakeems class.

I also think MJ is the greatest player Ive ever seen-but also was overrated-its closer than many think. This idea that we only count Finals losses against you-but if you lose earlier or dont even make the playoffs we ignore it-is complete nonsense. Its awesome that MJ was 6-0 in the Finals-BUT HE DIDNT ONLY PLAY 6 YEARS! This idea that some people have that we hammer you for Finals losses only-Lebron for example-is so idiotic. Making the Finals isnt easy,& should be considered an accomplishment-not worse than losing earlier. Losing in the Finals is BETTER than everything except winning a title. Lebron gets hammered for losing 6 Finals-including 2 Cleveland teams that HAD NO BUSINESS EVEN GETTING NEAR THE FINALS-but MJ gets no heat for losing like 3 ECFs,a few 2nd rounds, getting swept 1st round twice,or losing to Shaq & Penny when he came back from baseball in the 2nd round. People act like that didnt happen & MJ won 6 straight. Hell he lost 3 or 4 times to the Bad Boys before beating them once.

Im not dissing MJ-I admit hes the GOAT-but he wasnt infoulable or unbeatable,& it should go without saying-but losing before the Finals should be counted MORE against you-than losing in the Finals-NOT LESS. But to hear some fools revisionist history today, youd think MJ only played 6 yrs,& won 6 rings all by himself. He was awesome,& playoff clutch, but guess what-HE ACTUALLY LOST MORE TIMES IN THE PLAYOFFS,THAN THE NUMBER OF RINGS HE WON! Thats basically true of everybody-except Bill Russel-who faced far less depth of competition. But to hear the "MJ cult" today-youd think he never lost a playoff series-just cuz he never lost a Finals. And Im a Denver fan-I dont like Lebron or think hes as great as MJ. But it is closer than many think,& had Kobe got ring #6-I might have him ahead of MJ. He won 2 rings with Gassol as his best teammate-who wasnt as good as Pippen or arguably even Rodman. And Kobe didnt get #6-but if he had…hed get the tirbreaker. 6-2 in the Finals is BETTER than 6-0,unless you only played 6 or 7 yrs. Cuz itd mean you made 8 Finals vs 6. Anybody who disagrees is basically saying when MJ got swept by Boston twice in 1st round or lost to the bad boys in 2 ECF,& once in 2nd round-those were BETTER,& shouldnt be held LESS against you-than when Kobe lost the Finals-thats ludicrous. And Im not saying rings,& Finals are all you factor in-thatd be dumb also. Its kind of a tiebreak & MJ would still have an argument-even if Kobe got #6. But not cuz he was 6-0 in the Finals, cuz 6-2 is better.

  10. I love Shaq, BUT i could beat him in a free throw contest, a game of horse, and around the world…so NOT the MOST UNDERATED player in BASKETBALL history

  11. Most underrated big man superstar? I’m going with Moses Malone. Lots of people don’t even know how amazing he was a finals MVP, champ, MVP three times, a 12-time NBA All-Star and selected eight-times for the All-NBA Team.

  12. He played in an era with more great centers than probably any other
I’ll list the hall of famers
    Alonzo mourning
    Patrick Ewing
    Hakeem
    David Robinson
    Tim Duncan
    Yao Ming

    Sabonis

    Also there was Rick smits
    Brad Doherty
    Vlade divac

All teams focused on having as good a center as they could get

Shaq Dominated these guys minus Hakeem in the final when Shaq was very young
    And others I can’t recall
