I’ve never understood why he gets so much flak. I’ve always loved him as our captain. He’s not the most talented player, though he’s not bad either. He’s massively underrated in my opinion. But he gives his heart and soul for the shirt, sets the tempo for our team and is a top lad. Well done Hendo.

Hendo reminds me of my all time fav Liverpool player Jamie Carragher. Not the fastest, not the most skillfull or the player with the most finesse. But he gives 110% week in week out, is a leader and would run through a wall for his team. Hes had alot of criticism from fans but hes not sulked or moaned, even when played outta position hes been professional and gave his all. I loved seeing his reactions and celebrations…its clear to see he loves Liverpool and takes his role as leader very seriously. No hes not the best player by any stretch, but few players have the passion & determination that he possesses and i for one was very pleased he was able to lift that 🏆

Klopp deserves all the praise he is getting, but it is easy to overlook that it takes real leadership on the field for his style of gegenpressing to not suddenly go off the rails.
Specifically, the team needs to decide as a unit when not too press, or the team will fall apart after 70 minutes, as they often did in previous seasons.
Specifically, Liverpool's pressing features TWO players full sprinting to attack certain opposition passes in midfield. And it is not as the two closest players, but two specific players from opposite directions while everyone else steps up to smother the easy passing lanes.
To do these things right consistently is very hard, even when the coach tells you exactly what needs to be done.
I confess, I did not think much of Henderson for a long time. But I have been watching more carefully how the pressing is organized. And I saw a clip of Henderson chewing out Salah for missing a press situation. AHA! Henderson is one of the keys to organizing the press, and that is why his teammates are praising him, because they know he helps them all bring up their game together.
Yes, this man will go down as a legend for Liverpool fans. Most everyone else will not understand his greatness — they will just keep grumbling that their team needs to spend another 100 million or 200 million to stop stumbling in big games.
This is a team sport, and a team requires leadership. How PSG and Barca stumbled in the CL show you that great squads can easily fall short of being a great team.
