My idea to fix the draft – get rid of it. Treat rookies as free agents, kinda like college basketball, where the player gets to choose where they go. You'd get a lot more hometown heros. It incentivizes each team to be involved in the local community to build talent because you're more likely to sign local talent. And then teams have zero reason to tank because it won't help your odds to sign a player. And then you could have some kind of cap space rule to prevent the same team from getting the best players every year. And then terribly run organizations will have to change their culture to attract players. And players don't get stuck for 10 years on a team they don't want to be on. Thoughts?
