  1. Ironically, that old-school bottom bracket tool was one of the few that I recognized, even if I would have no use for one now. Credit to cheap childhood bikes I guess!

  2. The bottom bracket tool has a use on modern bikes, if you have Shimano pedals and take them apart to service them using the TL-PD40 tool, the bottom bracket tool is the perfect size for leaverage.

  3. Don't know what an old school bottom bracket wrench…. definitely spoiled on new up to date bikes and equipment. Now that i think about it, you hardly touch old school bikes.

  4. Alex, Thanks for this new series. Loving the useful tips. Here's my question. Using two sets of wheels of different widths, rim brakes, other than the barrel adjustment on top of the caliper, how do I adjust the firmness of the brake lever pull? Thanks for the response and hoping this makes one of your MM videos.

  5. Most full-service bike shops still use the HCW-4 on an almost daily basis. A lot of mass-merchant bicycles still use loose ball and caged bearing bottom brackets, and there are also still a whole lot of bicycles in daily use that were manufactured during the 1970’s and 1980’s. I guess in addition to being too young, neither of the presenters have ever worked in the service department of a busy bicycle shop.

  6. Ollie touches Alex's tool with blacked out goggles on….I feel like this should be behind some kind of pay wall…

  7. I have got an HCW-4 and use it on my classic bike bottom brackets, it is a very goot tool for this job. The pins do the adjustable cup and the 36mm cut out does the fixed cup, it is used with a c spanner for the lock ring on the adjustable cup. I like Park Tool tools they are well designed and good quality and make bike jobs easier.

  8. #AskGCNTech – I need to install noise canceling foam – as internal routing making a lot of noise.
Can i unscrew hose, fit in foam, and screw back in to calliper – without replacing olive ?
Any difference between Shimano vs Lifeline or any other ?
