  1. Primoz Roglic or Landa or Tom or Bernal for GC, Peter Sagan in Green Jersey, Polka Dot Jersey to Bernal. But surely Nibali will go all in to stage 9 to gain much time.

  2. You NEED to change to change the name of you channel to BCN. Global doesn't mean British… The bias of this channel, glad you decided to get out of Europe.

  3. really? most competitive tdf in years? WITH STUPID TTT??? (=free head start for skyborgs)? And then, after washing machine attack on the first mountain, all the rest of the bunch of contenders will race against themselves for the second place… THIS is the real GCN CURSE.

  4. Looking forward to Stage 19 in the Pyrenees, as I was there on the same roads a few weeks back. Though I'm sure they'll be faster up Col du Soulor than I was…

  5. Hardest climb in the Tour has to be the Summit Finish at stage 17, highest point, highest average gradient plus gravel is rough. One of the toughest climbs in the history of the tour IMO.

  6. Our bro Peter Sagan needs to win this to top off his career as the most dominant cyclist this generation. And the stages are setup in his favor, too.

  7. I heard Lance Armstrong talking about the grid start system. He thinks its a gimmick that won't really do anything to affect the stage overall. We will see I suppose but surely it has some potential to "animate the race " (to borrow the commentators phrase).

  8. Marco Pantani didn't do what Chris Froome is trying to do – he is just the last person to win the Giro and Tour in the same season, which he did in 1998 (he didn't however do this off the back of winning the Tour and the Vuelta in the previous season; in 1997, Pantani placed third in the Tour de France, attempted but did not finish the Giro and did not compete in the Vuelta).

  9. I miss Matt so much 🙁 , all new guys/girls are great, but Matt was like a father figure, it would be great to have him at least in some videos 🙂 , like a guest.

  10. Surprised you guys virtually wrote off Porte. He won the Tour de Suisse with some excellent climbing attack form and he's had a relatively restful year, building to the Tour. He certainly has some unfinished business after crashes, injury and illness. It feels a lot like 2011 with an Australian GC contender riding for BMC with a history of near misses – the stages are somewhat similar too.

If Porte can get into the second week without crashing again, I think he'll be a real challenge for the top step.

  11. Alright I'd to stop it there at 15 mins before I continue, I have to say this:
My dear GCN, you barely mentioned Mikel Landa!!! You only mentioned him in the context of a perceived butting of heads, and an ill-perceived one at that, in the Movistar team.
    – Starting with Valverde: he is not a contender for yellow. From what I can see since I've returned to watching cycling, he's a one-day specialist, and a very good one at that – a Moreno Argentin of this era. He is not GC.
    – Quintana: though this year's route suits him more than ever I believe, I still don't think he will best Froome OR Mikel Landa overall. He could be fighting for 4th place possibly. But I don't think he is a contender for yellow as much as Landa. At his best, he's an excellent climber, and yes, this year's tour looks like it would actually suit him. Okay, for a climber, his time trialling especially in the last stage of the GIro 2017 was VERY respectable, but still way off what Froome and Dumoulin could produce. That said, it is a mountain TT…hmmm…okay I'm beginning to reconsider haha!! Plus there's also that 65km mountain stage WHICH I believe could end up being taken by someone who pulls a stunt like Stephen Roche on the very short Aubisque road stage back in '85, where he put on a silk one-suit, just treated it like a time trial from the gun, and won it. So this stage will really suit those who can hill-TT really well. It will actually replicate a second hill ITT I believe.
These two stages could actually favour the climbers like Quintana and Landa more than the bigger men like Froome and Dumoulin. But they would have to be *on form*, again, unlike Quintana back in 2017 Giro where Dumoulin out-climbed AND out TT'd him.
    Anyway…
    – Landa: I myself, and I reckon many others believe too that were it not for Landa being Froome's team mate last year, Landa would have attacked and done some serious damage right through the mountain stages. He didn't win the polka dot, but that was only because he in a critical team role and hand maiden to Froome. I believe had he been a free agent, he would definitely have taken the mountain's (like he did in the Giro), and have been Froome's biggest threat, even more than….who came second again?? Nibali?? Sorry…I just don't think he 'has it' even at his best.
So anyway….I think Mr. Froome will probably do it again. I think he is possibly a bit stronger than Thomas on the climbs. Thomas would probably have taken Chris on a flat all-out power TT, but it would be close admittedly.
Second is hard to guess: I think it will either be Landa or Dumoulin, if BOTH of them are on form.

  12. Hey, does anybody know, is humble pie vegan? Because I have to eat a whole one tonight for laughing at the person who said Geraint Thomas would win the race. Sincere apologies, but what a prediction !!! Please can you predict that I achieve all my segment targets on Strava 😉 (Apologies also for forgetting her name.)
