Tilman reminds me a little of Jesus Ferrera. Great against weak teams but not capable at the international level. Tilman is better than Ferrera but as Casey said only against average competition.
On Turner. Turner at his best would be the unquestioned number one but he's not at his best. He barely plays. I would stick with a sharp/in form Frese for now. In the World Cup, I hope we have both Turned and Steffan health, in form and sharp.
When Matt Turner was at Arsenal he was busy planning his Wedding instead of focusing on his game. He even took a couple of weeks off, resulting in Arteta not having confidence in him … And I understand he now has a beautiful wife, but his career took a dive.
Playing time or not, Turner just isn't that good. He's shown his level. We were spoiled for two decades with good goalkeeping and now we're in a drought.
The national team is not the place to get minutes for Turner. Starting keeper position should be earned by playing regularly for club, and at a high level
First off, can we come to a collective agreement that this MLS collective at the international level (concacaf gold cup no less) is over and should not have happened. They are not on that level and I don't see it going forward. As far as Matt Turner, why are there still people defending him as if he's a generational talent. Zack Steffen left MLS prior to Turner. Turner has tried to follow Steffen's journey, but didn't come close. Steffen went to Manchester City and got loaned out to a Bundesliga side and started. Went back to City and bet on himself and dropped to the championship division and came close as a starter to getting his club up to the premier league. Turner let the hype get him to thinking that he could go to Arsenal and challenge for a starting spot and hasn't been smart in his loan decisions. If not for all the injuries (from starting during loans and coming back to MLS) this wouldn't be a conversation. Turner is a year older, no playing time, horrible footwork/movement. And now he's going to Lyon (who just got relegated to Ligue 2 for financial issues)? He's MLS level at best. If Lyon's current GK doesn't go to Roma, Turner won't be starting. If Lucas Perri leaves, they'll more than likely bring in someone else to compete with Turner which will probably rattle his mental cage. He's not good.
Dude, he played Freese to see if he was good enough. Hes not confident in Turner. Now in the time to give guys chances. I agree that Turner should be with his club if he’s not playing but I don’t agree that he should be playing.
EPL was far too big of a jump for him. He choked under the spotlight and has never been the same. I doubt he will ever get back to what he once was that is say a good quality MLS-level keeper. And yes, this is worst generation of US keeper this century. The good news is that the next gen look to be the real deal.

Poch is sending a clear message to Turner that he needs to work a lot harder at whatever club he is playing for to force his way into the 11 and STAY there. If he needs games then him him EARN them at his club first. Not just be gifted games with the USMNT.

This could have been answered in literally one sentence: He hasn't been getting consistent playing time for his club, which is vital for goalkeepers.
