We played good.. only reason athletico scored was because of set pieces .. which we need to work on..but frimpong looks great . They all look good . We just need a bit better fluidity. Which, will obviously come in time . These players are to good for it not to . But the ceiling of this team is so high.
Frimpong is a really good defender. Way better than Trent. Williams didn't even try to take him on, he was never gonna win a foot race with him. I think the 2 new FBs are gonna be the main reason we win the prem again. They have added a ton of pace to our defense and wings. Robbo was great until his legs started going but TAA was always a liability defensively. Sometimes disinterested in even tracking back.
Frimpong needs to control his pace a little bit better, he slipped a few times and you can’t blame the boots you can sense his body wanting to move faster than it should in certain situations relying on the speed.
I feel like we have swapped one defensively inept right back for another. Both great going forward. Trent excellent on the ball and distribution. Frimpong super fast and can beat a man. Both have very little defensive instinct in relation to know where to be and when. Frimpong at least has ultra high speed to recover when he is out of position. Whereas Trent used to jog back. Its a hard one. But i think we will be fragile down that side even still.

He may not have the defensive mindset of someone like kyle walker but he has the pace and commitment to defending that trent never did.
