It seems clear to me that Canada is dropping the ball and will turn this sweet opportunity into a clusterf*ck. I hope I'm wrong, but 2026 could end up being one massive embarrassment.
Not sure if this is in Herdman's best interests… But I do suspect he is looking for an exit from the Canada Soccer (Assassination). And I think anyone with vested interests in the health, wellness, and future of soccer in this country is becoming less sympathetic with Canada Soccer.

The national team is not a lifeboat for those already in it.
CPL is essential to the future growth of all young players and for Canada. And the TFC Academy should be a supply pipeline for players ready to take the next step in their soccer careers. John Herdman would be the right guy for our TFC Academy, but I don't know about his "fit" with MLSE.
The CMNT players (men and women) are occupying a spot until the next group come along so they should take what they get. If management is poor and "they" are getting unjustly enriched they should be tossed.
It is a not for profit.
So it is ok to fund the CPL and not give salaries to the men and women. Provide conditions to play in – yes! But their salary is between them and their teams… And I believe John Herdman, after years of fundraising on his own for the national teams has probably come to realize this… Which is now why he's looking at his options to coach/ manage at the club level.
Hired = Fired. Thank my TFC hiring him to save CANMNT! Herdman is garbage. Canada mens soccer has home now for getting into knockout stage in 2026 WC. Go find a top tier coach worldwide. Thank you Soccer Canada defund Herdman. Good luck my TFC. It is mess anyway. Today is great day for Canada
