He didnt NEED to ask for a transfer request. By his own words in this video, he was offered a contract by leeds and told if he wasnt happy with it and wanted to consider other offers then put in a transfer request.
If he wanted to stay at leeds with whatever the club offered then he would have stayed. He wasn't forced to put in that transfer request…
I'm still a big fan of his and never begrudged him (or most players) leaving – just stating fact…
