  1. Hey went back to the March madness coach from Maryland and loved it! Noticed she called the team “girls” and wondered if Amy had issue in that situation? Not asking sarcastically actually was curious.

  2. Canada has to score more than 1 goal (average) per game if they are going anywhere. I can't see Larin delivering what we need.

  3. I'll level with you – I'm not sold on Cyle Larin. He's the best striker replacement we have and he's a Canadian soccer legend. He HAS scored 4 times since joining Southampton, that's in only 11 matches. So maybe the extra play time is working in his favour? I want to believe, I really do. I hope his form is back and he adds to his total goals for his country. We'll know shortly and if his form is good, I hope to see him live when he comes to Edmonton for the match against Uzbekistan.

  4. This country, I swear… Tani needs to start because he can press for 90 mins and he's scored recently in the champions league. Complaining that Tani hasn't shown up enough for Canada, so Larin who hasn't shown up for years, should start bc he's scored 4 goals at a much lower division is the reason Canada can't have nice things…
Larin should prove he can produce for Canada before ever starting for this team again.

  5. The huge difference is that Larin has already proven himself, as he has scored 30 goals for Canada & he is the 2nd best goal scorer that this country has ever seen. Tani Oluwaseyi, on the other hand, has only 2 goals in 21 games for Canada's national team & has not shined as a goal scorer for his club either.
Cyle Larin is playing very well for his club & he is in good form. Tani has been benched in all recent matches & he doesn't look like he will be getting regular playing time before the World cup.
Was Larin in a very long slump? Absolutely; but he does appear to have bounced back & he & Jonathan David have excellent chemistry & they both play well defensively, which Jesse Marsch loves.
Larin, is only 30, so he is far from washed up.
Over the years, he has earned the right for another chance. We should all be hoping that he gets back to his old goal scoring form.

  6. Larin was poor vs Mexico in the Nations League semi-final defeat last year, with no running off the ball to create space for others, particularly David. He basically hung off the shoulder of one of the Mexican CBs the whole match and waited for a cross to contend. In other words, he was pretty easy to mark. He struggled at the following Gold Cup, underwhelming in his appearances. So, if we don't get the work rate striker who appears to be showing up for Southampton at the moment but get the guy we saw in last year's NT games, are we still going to have posters and bloggers cloaking subpar performances in a cocoon of excuses? He's going to get service from the very in-form Ahmed on the left while Tajon provides a threat on the right. Laryea is still a service provider at LB. David, though in a funk due to his club situation, is still a guy who can up his game in a NT shirt. The question is: will Larin be able to do the same?

Not a fan of Tani because, as said on the podcast, he is not a clinical finisher, but he still does a lot more movement off the ball which David needs to get the pockets of space he requires to operate. Canada vs the US in the NL third place game where Tani started instead of Larin was clear evidence of that, featuring much more movement up top, and more dynamic play from Ahmed on the left instead of the right. Plus, our stretch of fall friendlies, including road wins in Romania and Wales plus tough battles against SA heavyweights in Colombia and Ecuador, featured Tani (or Promise) up top with David. Larin's start during that stretch was a poor performance vs Australia, similar to his Mexico start a year ago.

So, what are we going to see during this window? Southampton Larin or last year's man?
