He actually was the best defender in the Bayern team and fans are already furious that Bayern let him go for little money. I think Paul Scholes said he was the backup to Erik Dier recently which could not be further from the truth. He performed nearly all mathces along side him and would be first choice before Kim and Upemacanou given the quality of his/ their performances. Bayern fans are baffled to say the least they let him go. Btw Paul Scholes is both overrated as a player and especially as an "expert".
