It honestly feels like Aaron Long goes out of his way to say (I am the captain) and take shots at Sonny for laughs. He might call it “joking,” but a lot of the time it crosses the line and just comes off as disrespectful. Most people don’t act like that unless they’re genuinely close, yet he keeps doing it anyway.
I’m not a fan of that at all. He’s one of the oldest on the team and supposedly the captain, but his behavior feels pretty lightweight. That kind of humor—putting others down for entertainment—is the worst. If you’re the captain, you should be setting the standard with respect, especially toward someone like Son Heung-min.
Sonny isn’t just any player—he’s the captain of Tottenham Hotspur and the South Korean national team, a Premier League Golden Boot winner, a FIFA Puskás Award winner, and a UEFA Champions League finalist who has competed at the highest level in European football for years. Players with that level of experience and achievement deserve respect, not cheap shots disguised as humor.
Real leadership builds others up, not tears them down. When you treat people well, it shouldn’t invite someone to keep pushing boundaries—it should be met with the same level of respect.
