can someone please explain why southgate should be sacked? there is no actual justification and just seems to be fed through to so many people that it's now become a fact that he's awful, when he's probably our best manager in ages.

Southgate loves two holding midfielders too much for us to ever win anything. Only need one of Rice/Phillips. Foden as an 8 alongside Mount, even JWP is the answer.
Part of me thinks Southgate is occasionally talking about this 3 at the back plan as a cover to undermine the preparations of his opposition.
Teams are so well prepared for opponents now that a shake up in formation can give you an advantage.
We look way better with 433 but being able to play with 3 centre backs naturally gives me confidence.
I'd still love to see those 4 major midfield talents (Foden Grealish Mount Maddison) play together. I think it's what Spain would do in our situation. Iniesta was put on the wing because of the midfield talent they had.

England players need a manager that gives them the belief that they every right to win matches in big games, but the pragmatism to instill hardwork into them. The 3-5 seconds rule after losing a ball. If they play like they did against Albania, but with a little bit more solidity and directness.
