  1. GOATANI is the greatest. People love reducing athleticism to feats of strength, but thats just one tiny aspect of athleticism. Ohtani does it all, and does it all at an elite level. He is the perfect blend of strength, precision, and endurance.

  2. The worst part about watching Shohei Ohtani every day is that people like me start to think this is normal.

    It’s not.

Especially not the way he’s doing it.

  3. Shohei Ohtani Goat It seems unlikely that a two-way player who puts up elite-level stats in both will ever appear again, even in 100 years. Unicorn ❤

  4. Since he is pitching where should Shohei hit third or fourth just want to give him a rest little bit I mean on the day he pitch

  5. 🤔🤔What I never understood with the innings pitched stat was in the late 1800's (early 1900's) pitchers were throwing up to 600, 650 pitches a season. Does that mean those pitchers were 2 to 3 times better than today's pitchers? Of course not! I mean, look at Dave Stieb or Jack Morris's 300+ pitches a season in the 90's? Are you telling me they are significantly better than .. say .. Paul Skenes at 180 a year? I've seen stieb and morris pitch in person and I've seen their stats. Skenes, Sanchez, Miz, and Sho would throw circles around them! I mean literal whiffle ball curls. Top pitchers are on a maniacal level today.

Ok, I'll admit, I'm a Shohei fan boy, but come on!! After a hundo innings, randomness starts to fade away and the greatness and ability of pitchers starts to be revealed – Law of Large Numbers. I think those who say Shohei shouldn't be allowed to win Cy Young because he only throws 160 innings is the same people who said Shohei shouldn't be allowed to win the MVP because he's just a DH. You can take ya lazy opinion and shove it up y'ass! You haters need to stop using blind tradition as an excuse to prevent greatness from being recognized!

If Sho's ERA starts with a zero (under 1.00) and he doesn't get the Cy Young, I'm rioting like a mofo…

  6. Cannot say this with anything close to 100% validity, having never watched him. But for the historical record I will put the name out there: James Francis Thorpe (1887-1953). Won Olympic gold medals and played professional football, baseball, and basketball. A citizen of the Sac and Fox Nation, he was the first Native American to win a gold medal for the United States in the Olympics. Considered one of the most versatile athletes of modern sports, Thorpe won two Olympic gold medals in the 1912 Summer Olympics (one in classic pentathlon and the other in decathlon) (Source: Wiki). Still, will never, ever argue against Shohei Ohtani.

  7. Ben, are you going to be covering the Athletics games this week in Las Vegas? It is the first time ever that MLB regular season games have ever been played in the city of Las Vegas, NV.

  8. If the season ended today, Cristopher Sánchez would and should win the NL Cy Young, and Shohei would win the NL MVP. Not because Sánchez is a better pitcher—he’s not—but because he has done more on the mound simply by being in a five-man rotation. He pitched more.

He has pitched more games, logged more innings, and recorded more strikeouts. But if you look at the underlying metrics and pure pitching stats, Ohtani has been better. Ohtani has a lower ERA and WHIP, has allowed fewer hits, and has given up only five earned runs.

Sánchez also didn’t pitch against Ohtani and the Dodgers last weekend.

As the season progresses, both pitchers will face more teams, and the July and August heat and humidity will become factors in their performance. That’s when we’ll see who the better pitcher is. Ohtani still hasn’t qualified for the league ERA title yet, he needs to pitch deeper into the 7th and 8th innings or spend a few games in a five-man rotation.

I still believe Ohtani can and will win the Cy Young if he finishes with 15 wins, a 1.75 ERA, and 165 innings pitched. His current 0.74 ERA is unsustainable. If Sánchez also maintains a sub-2.00 ERA—say, 1.90—then he will likely win the Cy Young.

    Good luck, Shohei.

  9. 👏👏We gotta give John Smoltz his flowers. We gotta give it to him, he predicted all of this even before Sho was considered an elite pitcher by most of the MLB fans. Smoltzi predicted he would be the greatest pitcher if all he did was pitch. People laughed at that. Smoltzie predicted his era could be lower than his OPS and where are we today? There are Hall of famers who take it easy and dull down their mental after retirement. Smoltzi baseball analytics is as sharp as a surgeon's scalpel.

  10. I can see Shohei doing many other athletic tasks and moves, as he can run and has the size and hand-eye coordination to excel in other sports. I can't see other athletes pitching and batting as close to what Ohtani can do. So, yes, he is the best athlete. Some of the athletes that came to mind among the greats in their sports were Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps. These guys were unbeatable in their prime. But I can't see them doing the other sports, i.e., Bolt swimming or Phelps running fast, but I can see Shohei being able to do a decent job at these sports if he trains and puts the time into it.

  11. I mean I can imagine Ohtani playing football. He's got the arm but QB is a special position. Right away he could be a TE if he gained like 20+lb. But I see him more like Mike Evans type. A big agile WR. We can talk all day long haha

  12. This Ohtani season is an absolute mega season. This could go down as his magnum opus season which is definitely saying something. Love Smoltz Saturdays it’s great we get to hear from a legend like Smoltz every week.

  13. I live in New York I’m 65 years old. I’m the youngest of 10. I grew up in Brooklyn. I still live here and my whole family were Brooklyn dodger fans and I carry the torch… I hear all the time people comparing Judge to Ohtani. I tell them all the time this has nothing to do with being a dodger fan. No one should be compared to Ohtani because it’s not fair.. Taking nothing away from Judge he’s a great hitter. Honestly, I think I would give Judge a little bit of an edge in hitting because he is a right handed hitter and he faces a lot more right handed
pitching then Ohtani does left-handed pitching . But then there’s the other thing that Ohtani does and he does it at an elite level this year he’s taken even that up a notch.! so many people just keep hating. This is what I have to say to those people shut up, sit back and watch what you are privileged to witness in real time you can tell your grandchildren you seen Ohtani play. Don’t fight it accept it Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball player that has ever played the game.! This is not something anyone can debate. There’s a reason why, because they have no one to comparable to Ohtani. 🐐

  14. The most underrated thing I love about Shohei is seeing him beat out infield singles. It’s ridiculousness. If he wasn’t pitching, I can’t see how he wouldn’t be a Gold Glove center fielder.
