I like the 48-team format because the group stage eliminates teams that are not consistent, play down to the competition, or might have flaws (like Korea whom I cheered for). The better teams always make through the knockout stage.
48 teams and even more is ok. It makes the competition more competitive and puts the favorite teams in a position to work harder. Who would have thought that Portugal will have a draw with Congo or Cape Verde having a tie with Spain? Imagine if the African zone was limited only to 5 teams as it had been in the past. Then, these two nations wouldn't had made it to the world cup.

both sides have a point. if it's the world cup, more of the world needs to participate. on the other hand, some teams are completely mismatched. some groups were a cakewalk, while others were pretty intense. and in the knockout round you also see some cakewalks, while other matchups could easily have been a semifinal.

It's entitlement and a bit racist to complain about other teams having the opportunity to compete, some countries feel only they should be at the world cup, i like Jose but his reason of a team losing 7 1 doesn't really make any sense because we seen Germany beat Brazil 7 1 before, frank says only the best should participate but who are these so called best teams?
