Burkardt is so underrated, and it was great that he gave that goal to Moukoko. The captain of the U21 team giving the youngster his first goal for Germany’s U21s (and someone who definitely deserved to score too), arguably Germany’s biggest talent – that’s what we want to see. Doesn’t seem too likely right now unfortunately, but I would really want to see Burkardt on the senior team sometime. He was so important to winning the U21 Euros as well.
The fact that Germany could only just about beat one of the weakest u21 teams in the world 6 – 0 is concerning. The lack of firepower in the second half of the game was surprising. Remember that Germany inflicted the San Marino men’s team their worst ever defeat back in 2005. There were definitely more goals scored back then
