      Timothy Liljegren 23 yr old RHD is also a option. 6 yr 25 mill would cost a 1st and a 3rd.

      Do that and recoup pics and players with a JT Miller trade.

      Didn’t Canucks trade that 3rd round pick to Toronto for Dermott? So your offer sheet speculation can’t happen. I think the “opps” was Canucks don’t have the pick any more.

      This whole offer sheet rules are a little confusing to me, but I guess the fact that the Canucks are making themselves prepared should be seen as a welcoming sight – not more circling the wagon giving up long-term contracts to players on the decline to try to make one playoff push.

      A big problem with offer sheeting is the player has to accept too… so going after someone like liligren will be hard. Liljigren just established himself and alot of the times the player wants to win and he knows there's a better shot with toronto to make playoffs. If a team like tampa came and offer sheeted liljigren I could see it being a tough choice. Carolina through alot of money for one year at a player because they knew they could AND Carolina is in better position to make playoffs then montreal was it would have been dumb for kotkaniemi to refuse that kind of offer, especially if he doesn't work out they just don't resign next year or they go for longer term and similar pricing or something

      IF… the Canucks happen to trade JT Miller for a brinks truck of assets… I would love to replace him by going out and offer sheet for Fiala… he's the immediate replacement for Miller: on top of the riches you got from JT. That'schangingthe core on the fly … yes Fiala will earn close to what Miller will garner but you'll lock him in at age 26… he's faster than JT… in the age bracket of all the core and is a driver of play… he will cost the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and will be 8.5 million per year. As a die hard Canucks fan it makes sense to me…
      If you trade Miller without replacing what he brings will make the Canucks a team that will be in the running for a lottery pick…

      I can’t see the Canucks offer sheeting anyone when they’ve already stated they want more draft picks and cap space… I also don’t see teams letting go of top 10 picks for a 3rd round pick because they don’t want to resign them for 2 mil.

      In the last 10 offersheets dating back to 2006, only 2 of 10 were successful and it's always an overpayment. Unless there is some "verbal agreement" in place with the RFA in question to have a more cost effective term after 1 year, offersheets are a horrible way to build a team namely because it's usually unsuccessful and you burn bridges in the process.

      Vancouver is also a team so close to the cap that they can't make the playoffs. We should be unloading overpayments, not adding. I really hope Allvin has better plans.

      We should start by trading Miller for a king's ransom. That move alone can jumpstart this "re-tool".

      Noah Dobson (RD-NYI), Jesse Puljujarvi (RW-EDM) seem to be the best, most likely targets. All other defending teams have too much cap space and will be able to easily match, however, NYI and EDM will be up against the cap.___Dobson would be ideal with Hughes going forward. His current salary is 900K. A 3rd round pick isn't gonna cut it in any case. It'll have to be a 2nd at least, so definitely above 2m (up to 4m). But isn't it likely that a 1st rounder would be needed before the NYI would give up on Dobson? Probably, so it's something above 4m. Can they trade Myers to clear some cap maybe? If the Canucks could get Dobson signed for 4.2m for a 1st and a 3rd, I'd jump at that. And then it's likely NYI wouldn't match, as it kinda saves them from their own cap nightmare. If I were Allvin, I'd want my 2022-3rd-round pick back right around now. Say what?___Puljujarvi looks to have a home on EDM's 3rd line for the foreseeable future, would come cheaper, may be worth a look at around 2.5m, which would cost the Canucks a 2nd and that may be enough for EDM to move on from him.
