how could ben johnson go to carolina after his team thought the field was too dangerous to play on, filed a formal grievance with the league. meanwhile ford field gets a newer, safer turf one year early.
plus its too soon. ben could focus 100% on offensive passing game, not team building and big picture stuff. OC is like living in a cocoon in comparison

Don't forget they let Cominsky's wife and newborn stay with him during training camp when he was a fringe player. That has to play a factor too.
It says a lot about the potential in Detroit for him to want to stay and finish what he started. He, like a lot of the players see that we got something magical going on, it seems like almost everyone wants to stay. That's a damn good feeling and something we are not used to for the Detroit Lions. We are building a dynasty I believe. I'm guessing Sheila has a lot to do with Ben's decision to stay, everyone is talking about Ben, Dan, and Brad but I think Sheila Hamp is doing a great as an owner, she want to put Detroit Lions on top
One thing that comes to my mind, and apologies if someone already mentioned this, is that the Lions are the only team that's been around longer than the Super Bowl but has never even been close to going to the SB. What if so many people are doing anything they can to stay in Detroit so they can be part of the Lions finally getting to the SB? Anyone on the team that finally does it will be NFL & especially Detroit Lions legends. Immortalized for all time as the players and staff that finally broke the cycle of losing for thus team. To the kind of people Sheila and the Lions are putting in place, that might just mean more than the bag of money.

I was saying the exact same thing 2 months ago too, Chris. Lions fans said I was crazy to think he’d stay. People forget how he got here to begin with. He was a Patricia hire as quality control. To come from where he was then in that garbage heap to where he is now is one hell of an upward trajectory. He loves his job and he’s been in Detroit for almost 5 years now. He understands the moment also. To walk away now would be silly considering if the Lions make it deep in the playoffs or a SB in the next year or 2, he’d miss out on the greatest football story in history. No way he was leaving now. I’ve maintained the same of all our current coaches. These guys get it. I’ll be shocked if anyone leaves.
