Zack Steffen is easily our best goalkeeper. He's got faster reflexes, and he's better with his feet. People are obsessed with this issue.

What's the latest about Iran being possibly disqualified from Qatar?
FIFA rules states directly should a WC team be ejected, the next top ranked (unqualified) FIFA team will take its place. It doesn't say that the replacement team has to be from the same Confederation of the disqualified team (in this case, Asia). Italy is the top ranked team that did not qualified for the WC.
FIFA should suspend iranian football from participating in Qatar for what was done to female football fans in Iran at the last Iranian WCQ game for the men's team. This is following what happened in 2019 to a teenage girl who disguised herself to attend a soccer match of her favorite local team. She was discovered, she died by setting herself on fire, she thought it was better to do that than getting arrested and jailed for 20 yrs.

I actually never worried about qualifying. Like Derek mentions, our player pool talent by itself was never going to allow us to fail. I truly believe any semi competent manager could have gotten us qualified out of CONCACAF.

Not that I disagree that Steffen should go on loan, but keep in mind that Tim Howard spent 4 years at ManU doing what Steffen is doing now before he transferred to Everton. I would argue he's the best goal keeper we've ever produced. How is the Fulham GK? That would be pretty epic for us if he could get a loan there.

Lots of people have been really obnoxious online with their mocking of players and other fans, then when someone has a problem, they claim they're "sensitive." Being at Man. City gets Steffen top flight everything (training, facilities, etc) and the ability to play in some games here and there to gain even broader exposure and hopefully this puts him at front of mind for another EPL team needing a keeper in the very near future. Or maybe a La Liga team. EPL would be ideal, though. At least that's my hope. Even though keepers can have much longer careers than any other position, he's still….what, 27? He's at prime of your career age and I doubt he'll want to sit around riding the bench too much longer.
Wasn't it Lalas who said to "save the champagne for something special"? Brett is exactly right — two things can he true at once. This isn't a binary issue. We can celebrate making it to Qatar while still believing that Berhalter largely hasn't been getting the most out of this player pool. Frankly, with this group of players, it's ridiculous that we as fans felt 'relieved' that we qualified on goal differential the last day. It should have never come to that.
