To be honest, I don't quite see it working for this Arsenal in the PL either. No matter how important Xhaka has become, his mobility remains a vulnerable factor in running the midfield. SMS does not solve that problem. Someone said it, a Kanté type would be ideal. At the moment, I don't see any comparable players who are viable. Then surely prefer to try to bring Madders to the Emirates. Defensively no Xhaka, but you do get goals/assists with that and someone who does have the mobility. He could play in the rotation at "8" as well as in the Ødegaard role. Also PL proven (which is a big plus for a Jan transfer) ans yes that also means the PL tax.
He would be great for Chelsea's defensive play style. Vision and passing like that paired with havertz seems inviting at least.
