  1. When is Pulisic not injured? What? is he made of glass or something? His spotlight keeps being taken away because he's always sitting out games, broke.

  2. The zendejas thread is correct
The player was provisionally cap tied and made a switch in order to play with Mexico don’t matter the age
Fully cap tied is when you play a competitive game at any level after age 21 or you make a one time switch

David Ochoa & Julian araujo made a one time switch to Mexico because they were provisionally cap tied to the US Program that’s why they needed a switch to play with Mexico
Andres perea did the same with US & Colombia
Zendejas was provisionally tied to the USA after playing official games in the u17 WC
For him to play with el Tri he needs a switch and he requested one in order to he called up To play
Musah for example never played a FIFA or uefa competitive game with England so he could have played with England today , next week with the US , the month after with Ghana or Italy
He was free to roam because he wasn’t provisionally cap tied
Zendejas made a one time switch in order to play , without a one time switch he wouldn’t be able to play for mexico at any category , if he didn’t make a switch & he’s playing that means he is doing it against the rules

Only way to be tied to someone
    1. Make a one time switch after being provisionally tied to someone else ( David Ochoa is an example)
    2. Debuts in one competitive game after age 21 in ANY category ( Tomori with England did it now)
    3. Play 4 senior caps before the age of 21 with at least one being in an official match
    4. Play 1 game only in an A category tournament like a Gold Cup , World Cup , Euros , copa América ect…

Article 9 in FIFA eligibility rules will explain

  3. Do you think Ventura Alvarado could get a call up with US? I think he had a good season last year with Nexaca. But I’m not sure why US hasn’t ever called up anyone from Mexico in a long time.

  4. My 3 questions for Derek:

    – If Steffen, Turner, and Horvath were all kidnapped and held for ransom, which one would Gregg pay to have released? If none, who does he start at GK?
    – I know you don't always drink beer, but when you do, do you drink Dos Equis?
    – Name 3 former USMNT players you wish you could plug into today's team (and why)?

    My 3 questions for Brett:

    – If Tim Ream, Matt Miazga, and Sebastian Lletget were to get in a foot race, in what order do you think they would finish?
    – Who would be better as Thor if USMNT players replaced the actors in Marvel movies: Tim Ream or Walker Zimmerman?
    – How much impact do you think the lost COVID year (i.e. 2020) has affected Gregg's preparation for WCQ? He seems stuck choosing between mediocre players, who have been around since the beginning and know how he wants to play, versus good/better players who don't due to lack of caps.

And one for both of you: Give us 1 player (each) not named Joe Scally that is currently not playing for the USMNT that ends up on the plane to Qatar 2022.

  5. The real Klinsmann fuck up in 2014 wasn't dropping Donovan… it was having no big body back up for Jozy on the roster… I called it at the time before the Cup… and when both Altidore and Dempsey both were injured, we got stuck with the wonderful world of Wondo up at striker.
Jozy top 15 USMT player? … no way… McBride, Reyna, Ramos, Perez, Moyers, Harks, Balboa, Dibernardo, Davis, Savage… old school guys… and Donovan, Dempsey, Keller, Friedel, Howard, Cherundolo, Feilhaber… all easily ahead of him … and guys like Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Aaronsen, very likely ahead as well… look at Hoppe, Pepi… no Altidore just isn't a top 15 guy… and of course most of us have no direct knowledge of those guys from the 1930 or 1950 teams at all… so no … just no he is NOT in that group. Hell look at how Sanneh played in 2002… anybody remember that or guys like Wynalda or Joe-Max Moore? How about Arnie Mausser or Winston Dubose? So many others that just are not well remembered by younger fans like the late Chico Borja or Dan Canter… defensive guys like Pecher or Myernick or Dave D'rico? We get this crap again and again from folks who might, and I'm being charitable, have started watching around 2002 as if that was the start of our NATs… but forget about the original German Americans like Tom Dooley or Jermaine Jones… just blowing more smoke again.

  6. My brothers, I’m going to have to start being a Chicago Fire fan because Salinas is such a BEAST! He made Ochoa look like a chump when they played RSL!

  7. My wife was listening to the Neanderthal discussion and gave me a look like she was wondering what I was listening to. I said, “it’s a soccer show I listen to…this conversation has been going on for two episodes…and this is pretty representative of the show.” Keep up the great content, fellas!

  8. What's funny is that, given his managerial "style ", Klinsmann would have been a much better manager for this cycle than GGG. He isn't (and wasn't) a good manager but at least he'd get out of the way of his players and let them play, which is something they don't currently get imo.
