There is no “Climb”. If you want a barometer of where FSU football stands, look no further than the past weekend’s draft. No first or second rounders in next year’s crop either.
Is FSU endeavoring to be the next Wake/NC State (solid, respectable football), or is the goal getting back to the pinnacle? If the goal is getting back to the top you gotta consistently bring in NFL talent and Mike Norvell has shown zero ability to do that.
I have no doubt that Mike Norvell is an excellent football coach. But that ain’t good enough. Similar to why the smartest or most talented guy on a job doesn’t always get that promotion to supervisor. Great leadership requires more – it requires charisma, the ability to inspire, that X-factor. Men wanna be you and women wanna screw you.
Mike Norvell has the cachet of a social studies teacher at Leon High School.
