I am so honoured that i was able to participate in this event! It was incredible to be race along side the drivers that we look up to and idolise, and for such a good cause. To see all these people come along to celebrate the life of Dan Wheldon was truly inspiring. What a send off! Rest in peace buddy.
One former INDYCAR driver who owns a karting track in the Indianapolis area named their signature 200-mile (322km) 200-lap karting race the Dan Wheldon Cup (Wheldon won the 2005 race). And the Wheldon Cup now includes an annual pro-am event where four-driver teams (one a pro driver) race in a four-part karting challenge. Dan's siblings and sponsors have joined the race annually.
