I remember watching this fight live. I was so glad to see Rahman win, Lewis always seemed like such a pompous bastard. It was nice to see Rahman knock him off his high horse.
Full credit to Rahman for throwing a magnificent punch, but what the hell was Lennox thinking? Rahman landed a terrific right hand at 3:07, yet Lennox STILL did not heed the warning and continued to jerk around. Manny should have screamed "OLIVER MCCALL, 1994"!!!
With the angle of Lennox face and Rahmans punch it was just perfect for a rotate moment on the chin. Actually thats what you try with hooks to touch that point but how Lennox was turning Hassims straight touched exactly that hook point and made Lennox chin reflex so that he went to sleep.
He only got a 7 count and the ref stopped it…..bullshit! Lewis finally got to prove he was the greatest when he beat the stuffing out of him in the long awaited rematch.
The thing is they had a whole training camp in africa for this fight. if i remember right hasim was the first fighter to arrive and was really focused for the whole camp. the dude came a whole month before the fight. lewis only arrived i think a week before the fight and wasn’t used to the air quality.
