Problem is the manager ripped that system apart for whatever the current shambles is so Gallagher would look exposed. Where we once had a generational creative right back who’d play wide we now have him stood in the centre of the park for 90% of the game. Where we once had a genius false 9 dropping in and helping the midfield, we now have an £80m bull in a china shop striker just looking to run in behind constantly.
In 2018-2020 yeah, I think Gallagher would work. In the current set up… not so much.
No hate, I really to like the dude, but he looks so damn clumsy. If he wasnt English people would say he's worth max 25m. But since he is, he's in the region of 50m. Zakaria looked the same like this guy, but he's seen as surplus to requirements at Chelsea and at Juve. He's a bang average footballer. Lampard even tried to make him Mount 2.0 by playing him every game regardless of his performance. He managed to score 3 scappy goals but no real good play, no quality of a midfielder – cant tackle well, cant pick out passes, takes too long on the ball, makes clumsy fouls, tries to go down too easily to win freekicks and slows down the game. That makes him perfect for a midtable team or a team that likes to play defensive counter attacking football where the mids sit deep, then counter with their legs. Also they use their big centre halfs for goals – mainly from indirect freekicks in the opposition half. Thats what made him perfect for Crystal Palace. Dont think Brighton would want him for Caicedo, they like to play big team football.
