I predicted that taking the knee would add to the ranks of racism .The fact is not one single racist will change their view because some over paid footballer makes a political gesture at the start of every match . That is a fact .What it will do is anoy those who were indifferent .American black power sportsmen at the Olympics raised a black gloved arm at the Olympics but that soon ended ,that act was booed. The situation in America is not much better and the raised fist made zero difference. I must suspect that the players now do so because they have a human need to have some degree of moral benefit perhaps becuse they are aware that they receive an obscene salary which seperates them from the fans more and more and the need is not to feel superior but to have some sort of equality with those that support them who are living in a different world to themselves.
I always viewed friendlies ahead of a tournament as a means to fine tune the squad of players you've picked? He fielded 5 players who didn't make the squad & even if they did through injuries would still be unlikely to play, so don't quite get it.
