  1. Chazz done very very well for a guy who was selling cars, gassing was inevitable coming in on a few days notice, look at the shape of him here compared to his previous fights, guys in another job & had no time at all to prepare at all, so much boxing talent getting shafted..

  2. Btw I've never seen a Usyk fight that he couldn't have finished earlier if he wanted to .I think he just enjoys boxing too much .I'm not sure amateur or professional cruiser or HW makes any difference to him .He's just a relentless point scoring machine ,

  3. Personally I think over his last couple of fights, where he has very confident, rather than impose himself on his opponents(like most will to dominate) he does the opposite. I think he lets them feel confident. But he’s always in control. He lets them think he hasn’t got any power and he isn’t “all that”
But when he’s seen enough and the gaps you leave, he’s on you like a tramp on chips.
    Very clever man

  4. In my opinion Usyk never got out of first gear and was a solid performance after a layoff. Well Done to Witherspoon for taking the fight at short notice.

  5. A lot of people were expecting usyk to blow witherspoon away within a couple of rounds but that's not how Usyk fights. Usyk has been out of the ring for a while and it's clear that he wanted to get some rounds in. There was a moment in the fight where witherspoon backed up in the corner and usyk decided not to pounce. I have watched many of Usyks fights and studied him, he was barely on the accelerator peddle in this fight and he was just looking to get some ring rust away. The light and clever footwork along with the steady work rate was enough to deal with witherspoon. People are watching this performance and thinking that it's usyk at his full capability, if you study his past fights you will know that's not the case. Physique wise he looks thicker around the lower waist and chest, kinda reminds me of Andrew Golota in his physique and is fighting style was vaguely similar in this fight too.

  6. Usyks timing i wouldn’t say speed but timing was great. He carried him plenty of rounds and could’ve finished him after the 2-3 round if need be. He needed the rounds though that was his longest time out of the ring.

  7. Usyk looks to get hit too much, and has no power to keep real hw honest he better stay away from top 10 guys until his cashout fight where any of the top 5 guys k.o.s him . Hearns knows and will protect him especailly how aj was exposed he wont have any hw left to compete if he doesnt . I dont see how a guy with less then 20 fights little under powered and not particularly quick and punch output isnt even like ruiz, got so much hype we all know cruiser is a traditionally weak div. If youre good you go hw. Usyk is doing that but to get so much credit for undisputed @ talent poor cruiser, like that means anything when hw nowdays are giants, and talent rich compared to cruiser. Hell, he lost to shawn porter in the ameteurs yes the one that just fought spence!

  8. Usyk is a good pressure fighter and has a good tank. Thats his key. I say this because when bellew fought usyk he was actually beating him, but bellews tank went and usyk then pressed him. Thats how usyk will need to box. But…will he take pressure AND a some bigger punches. Thats what i need to see.

  9. usyk looked bad against a guy outside top 100 on a 4 days notice who was napping at the presser cause they brought him in right after his night shift at the club

  10. Dear Boxing Squared and Community I have a question. Do you think Usyk is bing rushed in terms of having this fights against withherspoon and now going straight into an elite championship fight at heavyweight. The reason I ask is when Evander Holyfield moved from cruiserweight to heavyweight he had about 6 testing fights before going in against Buster Douglas for the heavyweight title…Look at the names he beat in this transitionary phase …James Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Dokes, Alex Stweart, Adilson Rodriguez, Seamus McDonaugh….So when he foguth for heavyweight championship he was seasoned at heavyweight….Usyk moving up takes 1 low grade fight and then goes in the deep end against wilder or ruiz/joshua…..I just think its going to end really badly for him….Even against witherspoon you could see Usyk felt those punches from witherspoon and I just feel against the elite he may be so tentative it could end up really boring because of his fear of those power punches from ruiz, wilder, joshua and fury…….The other point is when holyfield did become champion just like usyk it was more due to skill and punch volume rather than size or power. that he was able to win and then make a couple of defences…BUT HERE IS THE IMPORTANT POINT….As soon as he went up against BIG ELITE POWER PUNCHERS Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis it became clear he was always going to have an uphill struggle with guys of that size and power……..which is why he lost 2 out of 3 fights with bowe and lost 2 fights with lewis (the draw was a roberry we all know)……I love usyk but fear for him greatly..

  11. Don't rate the win but credit to Usyk for jumping up to heavyweight good boxer only time will tell how he would fair against the top guys

  12. Usyk's timing was well off for most of the fight and the movement was awkward alot of the time, usyk looked rusty and not difficult to hit. But after the injury and layoff I wasn't expecting anything good, a nice warm up with witherspoon, he came in better than I thought but by round 6 he was out of gas just as usyk was getting going and finding his flow. conrats to spoon on less than a weeks notice, I was surprised he tried boxing with usyk instead of closing and pushing him around and leaning on him, either way it wasn't a bad fight to watch surprisingly.

I do think usyk will suffer the same as fury though, Not enough power to end fights or keep people away unless they really go for it with bad intentions, both of them like to box to much instead of ending fights, often this ends up being a problem when there tired and one shot they don't see lands, but this is there style and what there good at. Difference between usyk and fury though is that I think usyk will train properly and not be getting splatted for weeks before fights and turn up looking like dog shit, regardless both of them never fail to have the engine and that takes you alot of places on its own. I'm thinking another few warm up fights, someone who can get him into 2nd gear next, It's a good job he didn't fight spong with this performance, he would of being in his face pushing it for the first 3-4 rounds at the very least.

  13. I’d like to see Usyk vs big baby miller, who actually knows what would happen? Usyk would dance and score points but big baby will be charging forward with no regard for what’s coming back. I see it being similar to the adamek fight minus the knockdown. Big baby would land much uglier, not clean body shots and combinations. Usyk would do what he does and if he can maintain that style with the pressure and output of big baby then he’ll win, but the work rate could see Usyk slow down for at least 1 minute for every round. And if he does, big baby will steal the around in that minute

  14. Usyk did what he was meant to do. Even though he is coming from back injury his power is his power but he didn’t knock Witherspoon out even though he caught him with his hardest shots. I would expect this guy to be finished off inside 5 by the main guys by knock out. Usyk was hit by Witherspoon and it will be interesting to see how he goes when he is hit by the bigger punchers. He will do well and see him getting a belt but think he lacks size and power at the highest level.

  15. Usyk is just a boxing DON , it's that simple for me! Footwork, movement, combinations and a good chin. I don't think Parker could live with him and I'd be surprised if any of the other guys could? Interesting times ahead in our favourite division

  16. Usyk needed to fight a few rounds and that was what he did. This guy will become a heavyweight champion. Won´t be the one-punch, Wilder/Mike Tyson type. He will teach the big boys what talent means in boxing.

  17. I am surprised to see all of the glowing reviews for Usyk. He did not look great, which is especially troubling when you factor in the level of oppoonet. Usyk is clearly not ready for big 4 heavyweights. I am bearish about anybody in the top 10 after this performance.

  18. This is a used car salesmen on 4 days notice remember. I’m not so impressed with USYK. I’m quite impressed with the car salesmen however ha ha

  19. Witherspoon only lost 3 times in 41 professional HW fights. former WBO, IBS, WBC title holder too. Not that bad an opponent for Usyk's first HW fight ever.
