Hey Geo players ideally LB, LW, A-MF, CF, Loan CB
The only area of the team we need to strengthen now in terms of ‘starting 11’ is the left hand side. Particularly the defensive side of that area. We are very vulnerable at left centre half and left back. So that’s the area I want us to look at next. Once that’s done we need a central midfielder and at least 1 attacker for the ‘squad’ and I reckon we are good to go.
I know what you’re saying with regards to not spending too much more. But remember, Diop is likely to go for around £20m. And if we sign that Napoli midfielder then surely at least 1 attacking midfielder will go too. Probably Vlasic. Torino should have a lot of money to spend.
id love either Luca Pellegrini or Borna Sosa to come in as left back, if Filip Kostić turns us down then i think Maxwell Cornet would be a great addition for left wing . personally i feel its time to move Benrahma on …. has had a few good moments but on the whole disappointing , id sell benrahma to boost the transfer kitty and try and go out and buy a top quality creative attacking midfielder
Honestly, we cannot as a club help ourselves from making a f*cking mess of things, honestly the simplest bloody thing, and you know what I bet the prick that f*cked up don't even get a bollocking, doesn't matter what happens or who we sign there's always someone at the club that says don't get too excited, we'll f*ck up somehow. Can you tell I'm not happy? Spent a big percentage of the day trying to track down a lost parcel, don't help when Royal Mail won't tell you where it's been delivered due to Data Protection but 🖕to them, I bloody found it anyway.
As for signings, Luke Shaw would be a good signing imo, always seems professionsal, always looks a bit chunky though, like Rooney used to, Kostc, Onana, Zielinski, another striker whether loan or permanent, and maybe even another loan of a CB, although if the reports of 8 to 10 million euros are true for Caleta-Car I'd snap him up straight away.

as for central/attacking midfield. id love Pedro Gonçalves of Sporting Lisbon , can play both wings as well as centrally, can dribble and pass and an amazing record of arriving in the box at the right time to finish off moves , has scored something like 30 goals in the last two seasons , i think he would be perfect for us ….. but ugh i doubt we would get him … has been compared to Bruno Fernandes

I can see why Newman is pushing for Zielinski the guy is mustard playing that modric role slightly deeper. I honestly think he's one of the best players in world football on the half turn. Need him at west ham
I'd love to see us sign Kostic to give us an alternative to Benny at LWF. Adama Traore would be be an economic option for back up for Bowen. I'd be happy to see Coventry given the opportunity to be in the senior squad. Absolutely have to bring in a LB, preferably one who can also play LWB. Shaw is ambitious but United aren't that far ahead of us these days and we can offer more minutes.

Geo, would you be willing to wait until January for Shaw? I think United could look to hold on to him but he may get frustrated with lack of play time. Of course that could put us back in the Lingard situation where come January they are unwilling to sell him to us because we are viewed as competing for the same spot on the table.

Geo…..raum still at hoffenhiem……..another fan on stels show told me that, raum was not impressed by rb liepzigs offer. whatever he is still available and the best l/back in europe. Its our major weakness and exploited by opponents (now regularly….christ even eintracht frankfurt were targetting cresswell) and it needs sorted or we will underachieve and lose more points/ cup games. Why not offer Vlasic plus cash for Raum ?

I'd like Kostic too, been fan for a while, also Gunter more defensively sound at Freiburg but both 29 now. If can get Kostic great but I understand if he wants to stay play UCL & then move on 'free'. Don't think should push big wages if doesn't want move, been there. One left sided player I'd love us to be secretly working under the radar for is Sergio Gomez. The former Barca academy player would be great understudy/replacement for Cresswell. He isn't tall like Cress but has pace technique & like Cress great cross, passing & could keep that play down the left as well as set pieces & goals from dead ball. Cullen could put in a word he finished last season at Anderlecht with 15 assists & 6 goals at 21yo he wouldnt break bank in transfer fee or wages & could be huge for us for years with resale. I do like Onana a lot watched him at Hamburg & I wish we went for players like him then & loaned to Ligue 1 etc. Only worry is if get him what does mean for Souček bc he is not Souček & we won't be able to pay a 10 goal CM like Souček, he might can add goals. But honestly giving Souček a new deal would make me as happy as any new signing. He is never injured, well he is but he still plays & had a short break & is chomping at the bit to play again. I actually thought Luke Shaw was closer to 30 and for that reason alone I would say no. But he’s actually still only 27. So yes. I’d guess too expensive though.
So my pick for left back is Rico Henry at Brentford. Quick and good tackler, would be more affordable and only 25 so would fit our age profile. Could he be available now they have signed Hickey?
Attacking mid I’d love Tielemans from Leicester. Again I can’t see it, as he would probably see us as a sideways move and want a minimum of Europa League. Also Arsenal are in for him apparently so he won’t be coming to us unfortunately.
Centre mid, I am the same as you re Onana, know very little about him. But, he sounds a bit of a beast! So yes I’ll choose him.
Centre back, IF Diop does leave that possibly gives us another £17m to spend? And we were linked with Diallo at PSG yesterday who looks very decent and can play left back too!

The problem with Shaw is his injury record, he's very good, but a huge Wilshere type risk. We have been linked with Luke Thomas from Leicester, my friend is a Foxes fan and really rates him. Might not be quite short term enough for the present need as he might not be ready to be a starter. Someone one Jose Gaya at Valencia would be a tailor made Cress replacement, get it done agent El Fornicador

With all these players coming in it´s maybe about time some more deadwood was moved on. Perhaps it´s a reflection of how much the Hammers have overacheived these past two years that there is so little interest in any of their squad players.

Is it me Geo, or is there some strategic pairing going on for every position we go after? After Broja/Scamacca, I was just reading about the Maxwel Cornet link (left sided attacker) …while we flirt on with Kostic, & the links to Zielinski are increasing while we await the Onana outcome … not all exactly like for like of course, but it feels to me Newman is tactically bringing two names to a head at a time – and taking both to the wire – before landing one …
If I was Areola and I don't start the season in goal, I'd demand a transfer in January. He would have been promised 1st team football as he wouldn't have come if he was told he'd be No 2. He could have gone to Fulham and become their 1st team keeper. Fabianski CANNOT start the season and it's now time he's our back-up. I will be majorly fu*ked off if Areola isn't in goal vs City! 😡
Shaw (LB), Sarr (LW), Onana (CM) & Tielemens (10) or Maddison, he’s similar to JWP who we know Moyes loves, but Leicester are quoting £50m as a starting point, instead of £70m by Saints, £45 may get him and he’s younger.
