In my opinion, I think he isn't particularly a traitor. He after all did win Athleti a la Liga and UCL silver medals. He contributed to the club and then signed for real madrid. And that's okay for it's reasons. As someone that has Athleti as favorite Spanish club, He's cool.
I think the way he left the club for Chelsea is what made him unlikable. He forced Çech to step away, filled the role and then went on to forced a move to Real Madrid.
