Well said grasshopper
10:25 – 10:47 really is a key point, which makes immediate sense. Thanks Shawn.
That's it, that's all folks. I feel most folks are struggling because the current trend to remove the hands out of the swing. What's your thoughts?
Shawn, you provide the most concise and yet simplified golf instruction I have ever encountered. You combine the complicated study of anatomy and physiology, you throw in some Physics, and then you deliver it with conversational and visual simplicity. I'm not going to make some crazy claim about how many points I have lowered my handicap by watching your lessons. I will say unequivocally that at 69 yrs. of age I am playing an improved level of golf that makes me very happy. Thanks so much for everything you do.

You make it look easy. I can't control the altitude of the club head consistently. Whet you do at 6:40 is impossible for me and I suspect lots of us. Add to that that we tend to stand up as we swing, and topping the ball is almost always a result.
Had my club championship this week and you were a life saver for me for sure! My Saturday round put me behind the 8-ball in my division shooting 84 (played the 7-12 handicap division…I was a 10.6 as of signup) so I was looking for an epic comeback on Sunday. Got to the first hole on Sunday and put one right in the trees. I ended up scraping together a double-bogey and was upset. Then it hit me. I had a quiet second waiting for the group in front of us and I thought “where was my focus on every shot that last hole?” Yeh, it wasn’t anywhere! So 6 “nice shots” to a double-bogey. I did my best to simplify everything from that point on. Let gravity take the club, cut grass, swing into the picture. It’s that simple. 17 holes later I finished with a 3-over par 75 after doubling the first. It didn’t exactly win me the tournament but it was incredible the difference it made and how much easier it made the game for me under pressure. Thank you so much for keeping the game enjoyable for all of us! Take care! – Chris
bliss on a stick lol love it
Shawn I've been applying the W. I. G. philosophy for a couple years now with marginal results. Unfortunately I 'black out' and defer to the ball, and there goes the hole, and subsequently the round. Tried all the analogous feels and images except one, "cutting grass". Today I decided to cut grass and had the proverbial "aha moment". The lesson 'HOW TO SEPARATE THE GOLF BALL FROM THE GROUND-Wisdom in Golf' produced "the holy grail" Didn't duff one shot, and had serious compression. My alignment was iffey, but I can fix that easily. Today's focus was ball striking, and I was very happy with the results.
All I can offer you is a sincere thank you.
you are the bob ross of golf
So Shawn with a driver you imagine the leading edge and sole plate cutting through the tee at a certain height? In a certain direction with speed…with the hands?
Can I get one of your new and improved grass cutting machines? On web site? Michigan Mike says great stuff…and cutting dandelions pretty good.
Bliss on a stick. Actually bliss on YouTube!!
Shawn. Thankyou so much! Best instruction ever!
Best vid yet Shawn. Something unlocked for me here, even though I've been a premium member for a while now. I've struggled with a task that would really manifest into my swing until now. New swing analysis vids incoming!
This is gold! Tried it for 10minutes or so and instant results! Thanks for the great lesson! Should we use the same approach when hitting fairway woods?
Such a good explanation, thanks Shawn!
I don’t believe it is correct that the bottom of the swing remains under the sternal notch unless the weight remains in the center. As the weight moves to the point below the lead leg, the bottom of the swing arc moves as well. Is that not true?
you talk in other videos about closing the face at set up to square the club at impact but it looks square in this video
Sorry for yet another question, have been watching hours upon hours of your videos (catching up from last 10 years 😂). What/if any feedback would the grass whip give you if you hit it fat?
"Bliss on a stick" Yes please, I'll take 72 thank you. Shawn you have a one of a kind teaching style and I can't wait to get to the range and try out some of the gems I have learned from you. Intuitively it all seems so easy and believable. It makes sense and so instills confidence even before trying it out. One of the things I have learned in the 20 some years I have been golfing is that the most influential "thing" in golf is the 6 inches between your ears. Once you are confident you know what to do, that is when everything gets much much easier. I'm going to ask for the $47 dollars back I wasted with a different instructor for one set of lessons. For $10 a month I'm sold, I'll be signing up soon.
Love your videos! You have a gift , you know how to explain things and create mental images that help people to learn. I have learned to hit some terrific shots because of you! Thank you so much!
When you slide the whip along the surface of the grass does the sole of the whip travel parallel to the ground?
