This guy wins 57% of his aerial duels in the Premier League, which is utterly atrocious. Somehow wins even less of his ground duels, though that's maybe to be expected given he isn't particularly fast or strong. Pretending he's the best in the world, or close to it, comes across very, very forced. Man City's change in playing style really fooled people last season, the guy is a very solid defender who makes great last ditch blocks and interceptions but he's not comparable to the best in the world, he just has too many weaknesses and not that many standout abilities. People love to pretend he's better than van Dijk, a much taller, stronger, calmer, faster, more dominant player who's also more of a goal threat, who dominates him statistically too, and it just comes across as a comical comparison. Rudiger, Matip and Thiago Silva are all a level above too.
