There has to be. If he is suspended by the league he loses the value of the contract for the league but not the bonus. If he goes to jail though the entire contract that remains would have to be voided I think.

Civil cases are about money not guilt or innocence so it really doesn't matter how they turn out. No criminal charges = innocent, what about that doesn't the media understand.
Haslam would’ve never made this deal if there were any chance of Watson being found guilty. Smart and powerful man that owner is. Think about it… He not only owns the browns he now owns Watson too.

The contract likely has a “Morals Clause” allowing non-performance of the contract by the Browns. If no other criminal charges are expected then only the civil suits remain which will probably be consolidated to the extent they are in the same venue and jurisdiction. There, he cannot be found “guilty” but rather “liable” or not for money damages. Technically since Watson denies all claims- even if a jury awards damages or if he settles but does not admit to the claims- he is not afoul of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Look for him to appeal any suspension and receive a reduction.

There are no "caveats" in contracts The Browns have probably given up any "morals" clause in the contract due to their prior knowledge of his past actions off the field and their claims to have "fully vetted" Watson with regard to his personal behavior in the past. They are stuck with the idiotic contract that they made
