On paper Apple TV is a good service, however this is another choice to make for potential consumers.
This move screams centralization of the league operations. Also, what about local an regional coverage of the teams. In some markets, MLS teams have to fight against other major teams.

Having all the content on one platform with simulcast and NO BLACKOUTS really does feel like a game-changer. I think MLS did a pretty good job of taking care of their existing fans this time. Hopefully this deal will help grow the fanbase too.
Feels like they gave up a lot of long term flexibility and negotiating power to get that oversized cash injection locked in. Hope they don't plan on blowing it all to bring Messi to Miami.

The number of apple tv+ subs are so low that linear partners will make or break this deal from a long term perspective. There are no recent number for Apple tv+ subs in the apple earning reports or calls which prolly means the low…

To me the most important part of this deal is that MLS now has a broadcasting partner that is going to market the shit out of the league. The days of casual fans just browsing what's on TV and happening to find your sport on ESPN or whatever are long gone. In today's crowded media environment, if you're not a mainstream sport like the NFL, MLB, or NBA, you need to actively market yourself to get audiences to tune in. And having a broadcasting partner that's willing to go to the mat for you on that promotion is hugely important. With Apple making such a gigantic financial investment in the league, they have a powerful incentive to promote MLS across a huge variety of platforms. Having the world's second most valuable company actively promoting you is not a bad thing.

Very informative, as for my thoughts I’m kinda iffy on the deal, I’m happy for the huge influx of money for MLS but idk kinda feel like maybe they will be pigeonholed by being mainly on a streaming service. Only time will tell. Of course as a American I want to see the mls successful. What will the monthly cost of this be ? Between fuboTV, paramount+ espn+ Netflix and Hulu these streaming services are costing the same if not more then traditional cable or satellite. I think this will deter a lot of fans from adding this.

Everyone!!!!! You don’t need to subscribe to apple+ to get the MLS package. You only need to download the Apple TV app which anyone can download for free. You only need to pay for the MLS package. Some games will be available on Apple TV+ for free yes but you don’t need to subscribe to it!!!!
Don't love the added subscription fee on top of Apple+ but seriously no blackouts AND a reworked more consistent schedule is such great news. If they can pair that with any original content similar to "Sunderland till I die" or the "All or Nothing" series I'd be overjoyed.

I think having this separate from Apple TV+, but with some games available on ATV+ is good. It means those subscribers will still be able to watch MLS games, but not have to invest more to watch EVERY match. Not everyone wants that much coverage.
So do you need Apple TV in order to also buy the mls Apple package. Or can I just order the mls package on its own.

It would be great if Apple did it’s own YouTube highlights because MLS highlights are terrible. They don’t give the opening context to the game, line ups, horrible editing, don’t show subs, and typically don’t even show the end of the game. Better highlights on YouTube would do a lot to advertise for the MLS
I’ve read that it’s in Apple TV, but you can not only get Apple TV on Apple products, but also on Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sony, TCL, VIZIO, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, PlayStation and Xbox, Chromecast with Google TV, Comcast Xfinity. Yes I copied and pasted that… lol… the only thing I don’t like is not having local broadcast. I like that, especially in MN when about half the games are on local TV.
