  1. very beautiful American Soccer Channel for us My Dear American Friend and thank you so much for this beautiful program.😊😇🥰🤗👍

  2. Great interview as always, Jake. Hearing reports like this makes me more and more optimistic about the USMNT 5-10 years down the road. With our current group maturing and probably maintaining the USMNT main spots, these players will super perform in future youth World cups and Olympics in the future. We won't have to bring our U-23's to represent our USMNT.

  3. Jake, I really appreciate that you're reaching out to broaden the topics and content of the channel.
Marcus, great interview. You're answers and explanations really were informative.

  4. My 25 years' experience in USA youth soccer points me in the direction of positivity towards the future. There remain, however various hurdles including coaches and parents wanting their young athletes experiencing multiple sports, DA clubs restricting high school play, and the financial and time demands placed on families hoping to have their young player accepted on to an MLS development academy squad. On the men's side, the general lack of success of the USMNT on the world stage hasn't helped inspire some athletes away from other sports like baseball, football, or basketball. and finally, getting a college education is a major factor in deciding if focusing only on Soccer here in the USA is really worth the effort. It is my hope that as the USMNT become more successful, so will the youth development academy program.

  5. Thank you Jake. It is very encouraging to hear that USA youth level soccer continues to gather momentum. The international success of the current stars of the USMNT will continue to attract better USA athletes to the beautiful game. Why would an young athlete abuse his body playing football and be crippled for life when he can obtain financial success in soccer and live a healthier longer life?

  6. You know, all of these items you two are talking about have been in the works for 20 plus years. I find it a little odd that your guest said the '98s. I remember being on message boards in 2010 and stating the US soccer will be good when the 98s and 99s grow up.

The GA Cup? It is just copying the Dallas Cup. It's been around since the 80s and bringing in youth teams from big clubs around the world.

Somewhat ironically especially with our current fan base (at least what i see on Ytube), the biggest change in direction for our youth comes from the USSF.

  7. There's only one path to success and that's through a professional academy. I don't care if that academy is in Europe or in the US or if they aren't offered a professional contract to then go to College. It's irrelevant. It' about playing at the highest level to actually get on the field. Prove it on the field and convince teams you deserve that roster spot on that team.

  8. I have been following the historical soccer development landscape and changes since the 1990s. I know what we were doing then and how and why that has changed through the years. We are presently correctly building a professional based development academy system, we now need to work on USL and also do better at getting talented youth into first team minutes. Alot to digest.

  9. Perfect interview. He basically laid out exactly what's been obvious for many years: there are many pathways to finding big success, and that going over to Europe early is not a linear pathway to being a great player. Each player develops at their own pace and in there own way. There is no magic formula other than getting maximum playing time at the highest level where you can play a lot is a better indicator of future results.

  10. Not sure how one can call themselves an expert on the subject of US youth and not talk about 07's Noah Santos of Portland and Axel Perez of Olympique Lyonnais. Hate to disagree with Marcus but the best player at the GA Cup was Noah Santos. The best American 07 imo is Axel Perez. Perez is actually on the u17 us team but only turned 15 January 1. He is Pulisic/Reyna level.

Also, I wish Wyatt Nelson the GK for Seattle U17 got more recognition especially for youth national teams. Probably needs to get a little bigger but its hard to believe there are 3 GK's better than him U17 and he is a 06 I believe.

Sort of sound like Marcus has some fav's and can't seem to get away from thosel

I know he isn't technically youth anymore but Brandon Craig from Philadelphia Union I've actually been surprised he hasn't had Euro's all over him. He is a 2004 but just turned 18 in April. It's funny though with someone like Craig. I see Justin Che who gets all the hype and who I think is a good player with a transfermarket value of 3.3 milliion but Craig is basically the same player, maybe even a little more technically skilled imo but only valued at 220k.

Not sure why anything on the topic of US youth teams would surprise anyone. We are going to be the like the Arsenal of Democracy during WWII over the next 10 years. We just have the numbers and now we have mostly figured out the infrastructure to pump out all kinds of talent.
