One QB in Browns history has thrown for 3000 or more yards in 4 consecutive seasons. Baker Mayfield did that in his first 4 seasons, with 4 different head coaches and 4 different Offensive Coordinators. He never quit on the Browns, the Browns quit on him.
I love the way some people are so stupid to think that Baker MADE the Browns a contender?? Hmm, MAYBE it had more to do with Sashi Brown making all the moves so the Browns had tons of draft picks for a rebuild…and then a very good TEAM was built around Baker. How good would Baker look if he was drafted on a lesser TEAM?? I guess we might see. Watson was on a bad team and still shined enough that now we'll see what he can do on a good one. But Baker did NOT make the Browns a contender….acquiring a TEAM full of very good players did!

Look at how the Browns have been ranked by Vegas for the last 3 years despite the Browns still being losers over that time period. They are the worst in the division since they pick BEFORE Baltimore and Vegas still has them ranked as the favorite to win the division. Even homer Brady Quinn said don't make that bet. Every preseason its, Baker is god, Browns have the best roster on paper, they are going to the SB, wave the preseason paper Lombardi, every draft pick is a steal, they are odds on favorites to win the division. And every season, but one lucky one, they lose.
Born and raised in Cleveland but currently live on the west coast for job reasons and have been out here for over 20 years now. I never once heard anything about the browns before Mayfield. When they rejoined the league as an expansion team, no one cared, no one was talking about them, I had to scrounge for every little tid bit about the team and what they were up to.
Then Mayfield burst on the scene and no ones shut up about the browns since. Local media, national media, every other story has felt like a mayfield related browns story for 4 years straight. Everyone suddenly has an opinion about him and the team, it's been wonderful to finally have people to talk to about them.
All of which is to say, I can only speak for the west coast, but out here Mayfield legitimately put the Browns on the map. Everyone kind of sort of knew who I was talking about when I mentioned the browns or wore a jersey/shirt/hat, but they were part of that handful of small market teams that no one outside of the actual city they play in seemed to know about or care to know about before Mayfied.
What kills me is all these pro Baker cheerleaders continue to be blinded by the fact that baker was surrounded by talent, this talent on multiple occasions bailed baker out. Many terrible throws were caught by the receivers. Any average QB would have had equal or better success. The Browns understand the time is now. Baker showed his hand. Look at all the games Baker could have lead us to victory but failed, but yet he lead the Browns…yeah right. So many delusional people out there. Its sickening the amount of credit Baker gets. I will give Baker credit for his arrogance and tenacity. But is inaccurate throws and inability to read the field is problematic…enter D. Watson.
I suspect this gentleman watched more Oklahoma games than Browns games. John Dorsey and superstar GM Andrew Berry put the Browns on the map with the talent they brought in if they even needed putting on the map (they did need the talent) . I've read that the Brownsbackers club is the largest sports club on the planet. Are they the largest because Baker put them on the map?
Baker had two good years out of four….he takes a bit too much heat but was very inconsistent. We appreciate his contributions, but he didn't work out. Good luck in the future! Go Browns!
you're saying watson didn't have anyone around him? you've got to be kidding or are guessing. he's enjoyed way better weapons than the browns ever gave mayfield. watson had the equivalent of triple double numbers while his team stunk up the joint…. that's irrelevant garbage numbers. he couldn't put up the points with much better talent. the browns were 1-33 before baker took a snap and they went .500 the rest of that season. let me guess, chubb right? denial to no ends….

Watson had Fuller and Cooks on that 2020 team. That's two pretty good receivers. To say he had an expansion team around him is a big exaggeration.
