  1. Nice job, Steve! But a standard/trademark/signature Scully home run call: It's a high-fly ball into deep (pick one) field! (As needed: Back goes [fielder's name], a way back, to the walll), it's (later, at times she's) gone! It would be interesting to hear his call of Charlie Culberson's line drive shot to clinch the pennant a few years ago or Giancarlo Stanton's shot that went completely out of the stadium.

  2. I like how Milo called Aaron by his “real” name. Henry Aaron. Hank was somebody else’s idea of making him more “approachable” to us white folks back when started with Milwaukee. Of course to me, he’s Mr. Aaron.

  3. I feel the Jesuit influence on Vin with this call. The immediate appreciation of the sanctity of the moment, the human dignity he recognized in Hank Aaron and his journey, and how with one swing of a bat and the relieved joy that followed, something greater than sport was happening.

That wasn’t just Vin Scully’s opus. That was the greatest call in baseball, maybe sports history.
