Both teams deserved to play in the 2002 world cup field as both were strong enough with so many stars. Ireland finally entered the final 16 teams in the world cup which could prove the capability of IRAN. Although being with strong capability but Iran did not play well in the Asian world cup qualification. Therefore Iran was forced to battle with Ireland. Unfortunately, Iran was not favored by God again knocking off Australia in 1997 surprisingly.
